I'd encourage Gord to speak to whichever retailer he spoke with, because we have not released any details on G70, nor are we in a position to take orders this far in advance. We'll likely launch an official pre-order process later this year.

I simply did not deal with a retailer and put a firm order into Canadian Head Office.
Maybe this is symbolic but I have an order #.

The truth is out there somewhere.

Somewhere in between. I do recall someone writing in to our Customer Care team about G70 - it was probably Gord  :rofl2:. We did indeed record the contact info for future follow-up, so I guess he's ordered in a sense, even if we have yet to finalise packaging at this stage.

I will say that I've had the opportunity to drive the G70. It's pretty incredible.

So forgive my ignorance but the G70 is supposed to be 3/C/A4 sized thing right?

Correct - it will be a compact luxury sedan riding on a bespoke chassis. That and its name are all I can divulge for now.

When are they doing this to the G80??   ;D

It would be pretty sweet with a DIY, but 2 people might buy it.

Based on forum M/T Hyundai owners, that'd end up being Patrick and me.
Except Patrick doesn't actually have to buy his own car....so just me.  1 sale for Hyundai.  But talk about exclusivity!!  :D

I agree with mmret, it does have a resemblance to the old Infiniti M class - which is still pretty sharp.

Patrick, you obviously can't say much about the G70 yet, but isn't the Kia Stinger on the same platform?  If so, I wonder if the G70 be any smaller than the Stinger (which is a fair bit bigger than the 3/C/A4).

Took my G80 Sport home this weekend and used the opportunity to take a few photos. The Sport model has a bunch of changes inside and out. A lot of them are small tweaks but it adds up to a pretty substantial overall look/feel.

Sadly the car is filthy thanks to the weather...

So let's look inside... In place of the open pore natural wood in the regular G80, the car has carbon fibre (yes, real) on the dash and doors. There's also aluminum running across and lovely little laser-cut metal grilles for the tweeters. The door panels have stitched leather, with the stitching in copper (one of our brand colours). The stitching is carried into the Nappa leather seats and the smaller-diameter steering wheel.

The aluminum on the centre stack has a darker finish with a cool horizontal texture going through it. There's even a machined metal finish on the radio and HVAC knobs. The headliner is black suede.

Looking at the "cruise" buttons, is there an option to choose between "radar" and "fixed speed" modes?

Yes - when cruise is active, a 3-second hold of the distance button deactivates the radar and makes it regular cruise.

Nice

DVD player, actually. Not strictly necessary, but customers in the price bracket tend to appreciate it. Wouldn't be surprised to see it disappear next generation, though.

That's an awesome addition, assuming it has everything else that the other models of cars the bean counters recently designed have (ie; CD was eliminated).

Huh. Who would of thunk reading the car manual could be a good idea  :-[ :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: I will try that.

I love having the CD slot. The Lexicon audio really shines when compared to listening to XM and other compressed music. The dynamic range is unbelievable.

Funny how we all have different taste...that interior leaves me cold but I quite like the regular G80.

The G80 is the Genesis right?

Yes, the former Genesis Sedan. G90 is a successor of Equus. G70 will be a 3-series sized sports sedan.

I love the slightly more aggressive front end treatment of the G80 sport.  It gives the car the right touch of attitude. Love the interior as well. I don't like the carbon fiber trim as well as the lovely open pore wood but understand that it has become part of the contemporary "sport" language.
