The Micra is a hell of a deal, the Festiva ST and a GM 1/2 ton with all the incentives.

Gawdammit.  Searched on Autotrader for a Festiva.
So wanted to start a Fund Me thing to get one parked in your driveway.   ;D

Alas, they are long gone...

I saw a Festiva in Calgary the other day.  I just happened to follow it for a few kilometers when I was in my rented Yukon XL.  I couldn't help but think to myself, these vehicles are polar opposites.

There is ONE for sale on Autotrader in the US.  In DC, I believe.  It's old enough you could import it here without too many problems.

Used 1991 Ford Festiva L

Mileage: 348,572

:o  That's gotta be a real gem there.

Maybe one can be found in a scrapyard somewhere.  Doesn't have to be a runner.   ;D

for the cvp stereo... you mean head unit? meh... pretty easy. just had a guy trying to trade his in with a 6' kenwood deck in there... just get a cvp with the bluetooth if that is important and at least you can have the remote usb and bluetooth streaming... 850 more for that.

Yes, I meant head unit. For $850-$1000 more, wouldn't an aftermarket head unit (with navigation/Carplay) be preferable? As someone else pointed out, it might void the electronics warranty though.

There seem to be a few others in the US:

Camaro SS or Nissan GTR are solid values given their level of performance.

If we're going that route, wouldn't a Nissan 350Z for less thank $30k also be included?

I'd agree with the Mazda 3 suggestions. I had one as a rental for 5 days a few weeks ago in Vancouver and was quite impressed...... Enough so that I went onto the Mazda build and price site. When I saw the pricing I was even more impressed.

There is nothing wrong with the Micra. They handle great...that's why they race them without many mods. The 4 speed auto trans. works just fine. They are only small though which is something to watch. Plenty of headroom.

Yeah...the CVP is still a good buy but not in the $19,000s anymore. I don't know about 'put together' comment. Mine has been just fine for almost 10 years now and everything works still. Brakes are always needing attention though but later models have improved hardware but probably need the 17" wheels.

i have two left at 19995..... come and get it rupert! improved brakes (in 2012) and now standard 17"....... i'll put your name on one! heh... (2016 new ones... all i've got left... 2017's are 22995 at the mo)

Too bad, it is about new car thread. For me, it is NPNS (No Plug No Sale).

Otherwise, on the used market, this is my kind of value search

Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

Great deals out right now. The Buick Verano, $6500 off.  The Grand Caravan CVP, lease for $200 a month tax in, $1500 down.  And quite a few 2016 remaining models.  Agree with the mentioned base 370z, kia Sorrento.  These GM models come to mind: an Impala, Lacrosse, 2017 Equinox

I really like the new Lacrosse, just not sure if i would call it good value.  At least not at MSRP.  I'd still take it over the new S90 though.

Guess I was thinking back when they were offering incentives to get rid of previous gen.

I think the Corolla is the best value in the compact sedan segment.  The addition of the radar cruise and other advanced safety features to all models is a big deal, and looking at the various models, for $20K you get a LOT of car.  Class leading fuel economy, superb reliability and class-leading resale make it one of the best new car buys, period.  It looks modern without being outrageous and the interior feel roomy and comfortable.

The Camaro 1LE SS is a super-car for a fraction of the price.  Seriously.  The car might look like a big brute, but it's got a near-race-car chassis and rock-and-roll V-8 mated to a fantastic DIY shifter with THREE PEDALS.  Yes, a true manual.  Yeah, no Bentley interior, blah blah blah.  Dash strokers need not apply.  This is a car for serious driving enthusiasts.

Yeah...if I were 10 years younger I might take you up on that...but like Micheal Cain, my days are numbered. We don't have a trailer anymore and so don't need the tow package but I would still go for one with this package. I think that it gives a better ride and handling (with the Nivomat's) and adds an extra dimension all at a great price...needed or not and all entirely seamless to the operator. I keep the old one around on the off chance that the kids might need the capacity from time to time. So Stow & Go is a must. The Micra gives us an easy parking vehicle for local malls...I wish they would stop asking me to come in for servicing..."WE DON'T DO THE MILEAGE" and I check the levels and tire pressures all the time. Hopefully when it is out of warranty it will all stop...the pestering that is.

Anyway, it all has to be boiled down to one vehicle for my wife later and since we have been Chrysler users since the old "real" Duster days I will bare you in mind since our local dealership let us down badly on the brake issue and other things over time.

Yes, I'll go with the Corolla.  I leased a 2014 Corolla for my wife a few years ago before we admitted defeat and got the "van".  Crush blue, S auto.  Solid build, nice-looking car, good on gas, well-specced and roomy in both the cabin and the trunk for a compact.  Probably the best value new compact out there at the time.  My only gripes were refinement, uncomfortable seats and a rather firm ride.  The facelift front is fugly though...

So it's a nice-looking car, and fugly?  Which is it?  Good value, and reliable, but still wouldn't want one.
