There are a pair of 2015s at BMW Toronto - wouldn't be surprised if you could snag one of those for 10K. I'll ride it up and deliver it for you.
:D
It's a good idea....that price is where I'd be at.

I hate buying new too!
they don't currently list any 2015s...they do show a 2014 RnineT for $14850...a whole $2k off a brand new 2017 (sure, freight, etc is extra)...not much of a savings for a 3 year old bike out of warranty (not sure if the dealer gives any warranty).
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

There ya go.  I think 10k would be a pipe dream really.

That's basically 33% off.   Hard to find that even in the used market.

At that price point, there's a ton of other bikes I'd rather have - no matter how great the chassis is.  You can get crazy fast fours or an insane big twin.

How about a twin that makes 150hp at the wheel plus nearly a hundred foot pounds?  At over $16K, that's starting to sound like the twin I'd be buying...

Got another ride in today, 180km loop  O0  Kind of windy though today, with gusts of 60km/h; hate it when the wind funnels thru the mountain passes- mid-corner "wind-induced" path changes still make me wince a bit.

Empty roads always lovely though.

The roads are clear enough there?

There is so much salt and sand here I would never chance it even with the warm weather.

Bikes and summer cars come out after all the snow melts and a few good rains come.  Many wait until the street sweepers come out, that is sometimes not until mid may.

Here, we haven't had much of a winter (it's done) in the Apppalachains. Last salt application in the area was 3 weeks ago, and there's been rains since then, so the roads are clean. Today was cooler, just +15° so tires still need time to warm.

Fallen twigs and branches a problem in spots though, I always stubbornly brave the wind and forget about the branches. There's always a risk of gravel too; it can wash into the road during heavy rains or when pickups/trailers don't stay on the road.

Even the old 2007+ Super Duke 990 would be a great used buy for someone looking for a potent twin with character, excellent handling and light weight.

It's also super easy to ride and is comfortable with the high bars.

I regularly see them for $6k or so.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

The sweepers should start doing the local neighbourhood roads here in the next couple of weeks. I'm personally ok staying on the highway where the roads seem to be a lot more clear of debris but refuse to deliver newspapers on my scooter until those roads are clear of sand and gravel.

I don't like that mind set at all.  Because I guarantee you...at some point...in the most pristine of conditions, you're going to run into poor road conditions.  Construction, farm land, dirt road, whatever.

Better get used to such conditions and learn how to ride in them.  I had buddies who would NEVER ride when it rained.  Meanwhile, I'd deliberately put on my rain gear and ride in the wet..sometimes awful storms.  So now, riding in the rain is no big deal and completely normal to me.  Whereas my buddies would nearly crap themselves when it would start to spit.

Get out there and ride...but ride according to conditions.

I do ride according to conditions, it's a lot slower than delivering newspapers by car when I have to deal with sand on the road.

Thankfully I only have to do this for one more month.

I was referring to Wing.

I know, but I can argue it applies to 90%+ of riders out there. :)

Saw a guy riding out there today, -2C but bare.

Have you seen the salt mounds in Ottawa. Omg no.

Sure roads can be bad any time but now would be stupid.

Not to mention you would be covered head to toe in salt.

It's gross

i think ron is from the Windsor area...as a fellow SWO resident, the salt use here is silly...i'll bet much of it comes from that region too...the Windsor and Goderich areas are among the largest salt mines in the world.

They spread more here I believe because of our crazy temperature swings they spread constantly to avoid slippery roads.

You would be dumb to subject a bike or yourself to the grossness.

I washed my car and drove home I get home and it's white from the salt.

Sometimes you think you are driving into a fog but no that's salt being kicked up.

I went to Montreal on Friday it was nowhere near as bad as here and the weather is similar.

Yep.  They use salt even when it *might* snow.
