CSBK Round 1 at Shannonville
« on: May 25, 2017, 12:43:28 pm »
Well, I'm here, I set up, I changed into my leathers... INSTANT DELUGE!  :rofl2:
Having not run Shannonville before I was looking forward to using this day to map out my reference points and timing points for the circuit, but alas was not to be.

At least I got one semi-decent paddock picture....

Also put a tribute to my father in-law on it.
He worked on the Hellcat line too, hence the number, 707.

Only an installation lap. Lots of money spent for nothing. Hope today is better.

I am still miles off the pace but this is my lap time progression from my second practice session.

Ran two races today. Race one, finished last, did a 1m28.
Second race, finished second last of 11,  did consistent 1m25s and was in a four-way fight for eight.

Nice! Pretty substantial improvement!

Are you able to determine what your Achilles heel is?

Better to finish last and gain experience than wipe out trying to show people you have balls

True, I could definitely carry more corner speed than I am right now.
Also I was half a wheel in front of a guy at the end of the back straight but wussed out of the shallow line. Didn't want to put him in the grass on the exit.
Experience will build that confidence., hopefully.

Come on....that's not really fair.

Like braking? Corner speed? Smoothness?

Entry speed mostly, it's down. The fast guys can enter turn one pinned, I roll off, tip in and roll on but struggle to convince myself to get right back to 100 percent throttle.
So there's time there.
At the back hairpin onto the main straight I'm not even knee down, so am leaving time there.
