Topic: 2013 Ford Escape 1.6L EcoBoost

Hi all,

I am new here to the forum. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the 2013 Ford Escape SE 1.6L EcoBoost. They are going fairly cheaper than other used SUVs, but it is the first year of the new body style and so I am worried there have been issues with it. Also, it would be FWD and I'm not sure how that will do in the snow. Anyone have any experience with it? And how about using it on the highway (where I'll be doing most of my travelling). Being 1.6L, won't the engine work way too hard and die off quicker than others?

Just for some basic info:

2013 Escape, 1.6L EcoBoost
mileage: 60 000 kms
FWD, Automatic

An alternative would be a used 2015 Escape SE 2.5L but that one is a little above my budget. That being said, if it is a significantly better choice than the 2013 EcoBoost,  I won't mind paying the extra bit.

You'd be better off finding one with the 1.5 or 2.0L. Early 1.6 turbos had issues. I think they were eventually sorted, but the reputation lingers.

Avoid 2013s, the 1.6 engine had many issues for that year. 2014+ are recommended....I just bought one but mine is 2016 1.5T.
