I am not really surprised.  I wish they would have made a performance version with a manual and the type of performance that matches the M3, AMG, RS, etc.  It won’t be long before they are entirely EV and CUV anyway.

I think they should have come out of the gate swinging for the fences. V6 model with manual. I don't think it's fair to hope performance would be on par with AMG, M, RS. though.

Go after the traditional sport sedan buyer and offer them something a bit unique to make a splash in the segment.

As much as some might deny, many still regard Genesis as just a Hyundai. So you have to do something a bit different to get those new buyers IMO.

Well they did snag some BMW M people and that's why the Veloster N, Elantra N, and Kona N are so good.  So why not shoot for more.  I agree with offering the manual with the larger engine choice at the very least.  Also would have been nice if they did some things to maybe differentiate themselves like a wagon.

I doubt that a niche manual performance edition in brown would have altered sales much.  ;)  There would be more enthusiasts praising it than actually buying it - and enthusiasts are small slice of the market anyway.  I'm guessing, based upon what I see on the road, that their CUVs are exponentially outselling their sedans.  There might not be a business case for keeping three sedans on the books. Of course, it's just internet speculation anyway.

Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

I tend to think a performance version would have brought more positive media to the brand and product and there would have been a trickle down effect to the lower trim models.  But for sure they always should have started with a CUV lineup.  Speaking of which, it'd be nice if they offered a more rugged off road offering.  Thinking a Land Rover or G Wagon rival would be nice.

I came super close to buying one last year but ended up with the RS3. The price was really reasonable, the car looked good and had loads of features but I just couldn't bring myself to buy one in the end and of course.... RS3!

Hard to believe Genesis threw so much money and effort into sedans for so long. A combination of Korean and German pigheadedness

I could never get excited about these, even when they were RWD and manual trans. The nose and front grill is just too bland, and spoils the entire car for me. It looks even worse with a licence plate stuck in the middle of it. That said, if I could find a manual trans version cheap enough, I might be tempted. The operative phrase being, "cheap enough".

I have a silly hangup with these and it's the small screen sticking up out of the dash. Reminds me of base model BMWs that have the larger binnacle for the high end models with a small screen stuffed in it.

But I too would rock a cheap one.

Just another great sport sedan dead. People don’t buy cars anymore and that’s sad.

I drove one and thought it was excellent, especially for the price.

On a side note, these respond really well to ECU tunes.

Well we don't know that it's dead, but I wouldn't find it shocking and agree that it would definitely be sad.

Yes it is a blast, I think the G70 was just lacking fun which the RS3 has in spades.

So we know now that the G70 is not dead and is getting a new, more powerful base engine.

But it's so hot that it catches fire though ... massive Genesis sedan recall: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a46829706/90000-genesis-cars-recalled-due-to-fire-risk/

I think I’ll stick with EV’s. Too much fire risks with ICE..  ;)

True. Something is always burning in there...  :P

Genesis has spent so much building sedans due to its home market. Maybe people tastes are changing there too...in favour of CUVs.
