There's a sucker born everyday.

Unfortunately, given the amount that Lexus drivers are car-focused, I bet there will be a more than a few who fall for this (IS-F owners notwithstanding).

meh... some of those customers pay 100 bucks for a wash and vacuum, so an extra 69 bucks for a new cabin filter and "treatment" (likely just a spray bomb in the intake, but still costs 15 bucks or so)...

i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

The first time I brought the Passat in for service they had an extra ~$100 worth of fluff they wanted to do. They just added it after I asked for the regular first service schedule items. I looked at the sheet and said:"How about you just do the service I asked for?" I don't think he was used to getting any blowback. But he did get it sorted. They haven't tried to up-sell again.

If cabin air filter is buried in dash behind glove box like it was on Mazda 3 it is a bit of deal.  ;D

If you want more in life you have to make an effort.

Anyone else need to remove the accelerator pedal to change the cabin air filter?
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

On our Toyotas, the cabin filter is located behind the glove box, but engineered in a manner to allow simple and quick access.

Awful...just awful engineering.

It's truly puzzling how anyone can sign off on this and say "Great idea, let's do it this way".

It's the only thing that truly irritates me about the car.

i think most cars are like that...both our Kias are simple and easy...open glovebox, press two tabs on cover at back of glovebox and pull out "tray"...remove old filter and replace with new one...slide it back in (clicks back into place)...done...takes about 1 minute to change a filter and no tools are required.

Same for my MDX and Civic.  It should be that way for every car, but Nissan and Infiniti don't think so. You have to take out bottom of the dash to get to it.

Serious contortions are required to get the cabin filter done on Mercs. Surprised it is allowed by German OHSA rules.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!
