Just wanted to give a quick update. The C43 continues to be a lot of fun to drive, but after 9 months of C43 ownership, I lost count on the number of times I've had to drop the car off at the dealership. From a broken power trunk, persistent interior rattles, and a transmission that is in the process of being replaced (I have an E400 wagon loaner in the driveway as I type), it is clear Mercedes-Benz cut corners with regards to quality. While Mercedes vehicles are luxurious, it is unfortunate to say that they do not provide the luxury of a peace of mind.

As a side note, I got three tire flats in the 9 months that I've owned the C43. On the contrary, I didn't have a single flat tire during the five years that I've had the Volvo S60. Just a streak of bad luck?

Ouch!  Looks like MB's reliability standards haven't improved any.  ::)

Ugh.  FGC.

It's nice to see you went with your gut and didn't settle for the C300. That C43 looks like fun. Congrats!

Thank you! I have been following your ML thread for a while now, hopefully the C-Class won't be as problematic.

 :-\

Sorry to hear about the troubles.  Such a beautiful car.

The flats are just a bad streak I'd say, what caused them, nails, screws, glass? The rest though is nuts!! Hard to believe how far Benz has fallen!

I can see softer and gripper rubber being more prone to punctures compared to LRR tires, if that in fact what's installed on this car.

and there really is no excuse...when Kia can make a fully featured economy car (my Rio5) last 6 years without any issues and only needing regular maintenance for $22k, there's no reason any luxury brand can't do the same...Lexus knows how its done...it's likely Genesis will too...FGC, not so much...driving dynamics mean fuckall when the car's in the shop half the time.

Really hard to believe MB quality control is still that bad.  Inexcusable in a company of this calibre really.  Sure would dampen the luxury car experience for me.

Yeah, things started to go sideways for Benz in the late 90's/early 2000's really......so pushing 20 years. That's a long time to rest on your laurels  ::)

One had a nail, the other had a baby from its encounter with a Toronto pothole (a big bubble in the sidewall LOL), and one had a mysterious gash on the inner sidewall hmm.... Makes me glad I have the tire & rim insurance.

Wasn't sure whether I should laugh  or be disappointed, but each of the two Mercedes loaners (C300 and E400) they gave me had their fair share of gremlins, from a headlight fault warning (there was nothing wrong with the headlamps), to a puddle lamp that turns on intermittently.... It's a sign I should just go back to my Volvos and stick with them.

P.S The last German vehicle we had, a Hong Kong-spec VW Golf MK6 TSI, had its 7-speed DSG fixed twice before it got recalled. Facking German cars, am I right?

Finally picked up my C43, after 23 days at the dealership. Had the front axle, and transmission replaced.

On another note, the major creaks and rattles from the interior seem to have disappeared. Not sure if MB worked on it while my car was in, or because the temperatures have risen. Either way, a pleasant surprise.
