you mean the Type R?

looks like they now use a 2.0T engine...306 HP and 295 TQ...the knock against the old ones was always the low TQ number...that looks to be a non-issue here.

No the SI. It uses the the turbo engine that is in other civics, but has a higher output.

My wife wants me to look at an Si Couple.  Who am I to argue?  ;-)

Neat tech on the Si.  Adaptive dampers, driver selectable damping modes, firmer shocks, springs, bushings, upper rear suspension moungs, and roll bars than non-Si models.  Bigger turbo, firmer seats.......  And seriously quick, too!

Too bad no Si trim for the hatchback.  I guess it's too difficult to implement on the different production line.

Looking forward to Elantra GT vs. Civic hatchback comparison review.

oh, they've had the Si for a while, so i figured when you were getting excited about it, i thought it was the Type R...i considered an Si when i bought my last car, but the lack of an automatic ruled it out...that is still the case today, only available in manual.

Not really excited about it. Just making a comment. Didn't realize it was introduced around april.
Thought this sight might have had a review of the SI. There is  a thread on the Type R in another section of this forum.

No you woudn't.  It isn't AWD.  Remember?   :-*

FWD is fine - I've owned several.  I'm just not crackhead-level delusional about the limitations of FWD on a performance vehicle in low traction situations.  At $28k I'm a buyer.  FWD, FUGLY and FUN.

Si vs GTI is going to be a very interesting match.

I think the GTI is going to have the stronger motor but the LSD, excellent manual, and steering feel may go to the SI.  The SI will be cheaper overall.  To get an LSD on the GTI you have to spend about $38K!

The 2018 GTI has no LSD. The positive is that the pricing will be lower as the base model 5 door will be available now.

Civic Type R has an MSRP of $40,890 as per a leak from earlier this week.

I know Honda won't have any trouble selling all their Type R's at that price (considering they already said there will be a limited supply of them), but at that price I don't think I could look past the lack of AWD.  I totally get that the FWD in the Type R performs magic and is faster than any of its rivals on a track, but in the real world and in winter conditions especially I much prefer AWD.  Plus if I was buying something for the track it would be a RWD vehicle.

So how is that debadged Mustang GT without the GT brakes, suspension, hood, and V8?  Do you make 'vroom, vroom' sounds when you sit in it in the garage? :-*

I love it [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji7] always get amazing compliments from peeps! It has a really cool personalized plate now and I upped the rims to 20s, so it looks even more bad ass :)

I have 7000km on it right now.

There are some seriously fast cars in the CTCC (Canadian Touring Car Championship) which are FWD.  I have no problem thinking of the Type R and the Si as serious track cars, especially as they are equipped with LSDs.  But.....I prefer AWD myself.  Not least because it's smarter than I am in low traction conditions and much as I am a track day enthusiast I love the fact that I can drive my car at the track (not just the road) in marginal weather conditions.

Remember now - AWD gives you no advantage on a wet track over 20kph!  :rofl2:
