Got emails from Honda and Yamaha execs this week.

No 530DX, no Forza, no X-Adv coming. This leaves only the BMW C650GT..but the price to buy, service costs (and weight) turned me off.

So I'm kinda back to an all rounder bike.

Still on the fence.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

That's probably the reason I had to badger them to get a response!

I guess I don’t know what you plan on doing with it, but 990 Adv seems less of an “all-rounder” than the 690 Duke.

Friend of mine had a 990 Adv but sold it and bought a Super Tenere. He liked it better for the 2-up off-pavement exploring he does with his wife. I think he said the 990 Adv was better suited as a high-speed tourer.

Now, 990 Super Enduro is something I’d be all over. Don’t think they ever brought the 990 to North America though? Oh well, used 950 SE would have to do.

Wind protection sucks on the Duke. And, while I motard it on dirt, it's not really made for it...but still fun. And highway rides are best left to short hauls.

I'm looking for essentially an every day commuter, do it all bike...rain or shine, street or dirt. Plus the engine in the 990 is pretty bonkers!

Tenere is nice for sure...but it's significantly heavier (50+ pounds) than the 990. Also..every comparo has the KTM better off road.

^^ I probably got that backwards then. I know he prefers the Super Tenere, but I guess it’s because it’s better on the highway but still decent off-pavement.

Yea, that makes sense. The 19" front, 17" rear would be a bit better on road IMO...it would feel more natural than the 21"/18" combo of the 990.

Ha, the bike you describe is the KLR! Except engine is more tractor than bonkers.

Have you considered the new BMW F750GS or F850GS? Seem like decent Swiss Army knife options.

Bro owns a BMW GS...I've heard enough maintenance/cost stories.

KLR is weak sauce...sadly, have driven them before.

Interesting, I always thought BMW bikes held up pretty good. A guy at work has a GS, I'm not sure which one but it says Dakar on the side, he's put like 90,000 km on the thing with just regular maintenance.

It's the maintenance and parts that are killer. They are pretty reliable though...but they still have their issues.

The Dakar was a single. Yep..would last a long time.

The GS800s are twins..and not as reliable as the singles.

Ah that makes sense. I guess I didnt pickup on that as I basically change the oil and spray some chain lube to keep my tractor in top shape :rofl2:

Cuz my bike is in DE, but the rest of my belongings are in the US still, a bad excuse to pick up new gear so I can eventually ride my R3 home.

Splurged a bit on the helmet: X-lite X-803 carbon. The Moto Axxe store in France had my size in stock too !  8)
