Morgan Factory Tour
« on: October 13, 2017, 01:20:33 pm »
Some of you might have heard of Morgan (https://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/) a small English company that has been building cars since 1909, and has made a go of it keeping some very old school construction and styling. The factory is based in small town my cousins live in, and when I was visiting them last week we took the factory tour and I took a few photos.

The husband of one of my cousins is a bit of a retro buff and it turned out had bought a early 70's Morgan, so he took us up into the Malvern hills in it, around town and eventually to the factory:

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

To help you understand the pictures, the way I understand it (and enthusiasts feel free to correct me) Morgan has three basic lines nowadays, the steel frame 'Classic Series' they've been building since 1935, the hi performance aluminum 'Aero Series' since 2000, and the 3 Wheelers since 2012.

The 4 wheel cars can be specc'd with a variety of engines, from 4 cylinder and V6 Fords up to a V8 BMW, while the 3 wheelers have a 2L S&S V twin. Frames are all metal, but ash is used to support the body.

Basic frames:

Very Cool! Thanks for posting

Getting closer:

The aluminum series, when they get to a certain point, are moved around the process under their own noisy power, while the classics are pushed down a hill without engines and have to go cart it into the paint shop. The shop door had the odd dent from the process.

Yeah, it is close. Great tour, basically walking through the factory floor while they are building. I've been in Malvern many times, but never thought to check on this. They also have rentals 'take one to Scotland if you like', said the guide.

Now that would be cool....or even just for a day to tour around the area.

Nice! I'd forgot you have one. I understand Morgans have not been sold in Canada for some time.

I think in the US all you can buy is the three wheeler at present. They noted that it was a 'nice little earner'.

It had only came about after the current Morgan running the company happened on a design built in Seattle and thought it was a great idea to revive the Morgan trike.
