Considering Weber S330 vs Broil King Regal 590. Price is about the same.

I believe HD is doing promo right now with free delivery, setup, and a tank of propane.

I took a look at them in store and to me the Broil King felt sturdier. Box weight is 30lbs heavier too, so there must be something to it. But everyone tells me Weber is king...

I purchased a Kamado not too long ago.  I don't think that I'll ever go back to a gas grill ever again.

Yea..I sorta do that but with my smoker.  I smoke everything..then hit it on the grill for 1-2 minutes per side.  Just grilling now tastes positively bland.

I would go with Broil King only because I am not happy with my weber. Just not hot enough. Weber reps have told me they are designed for top down roasting and baking and not top up searing and grilling. If I could I would trade mine for a Broil King. It is bound to be better.

Here is my complete post on an old topic about BBQ's

I bought a Weber Genesis based on what I read on internet, Consumer reports and what I perceived as a quality BBQ. Was thrilled to finally own one and was excited to bring it home.

Surprisingly I have been very disappointed with it. It just does not put out enough heat. It will heat up to 600 degrees on a good day with the top down. But if top is lifted the heat dissipates quickly. Top up it does not generate enough heat to properly sear meat and fish fast. Like like my steaks rare but nicely grilled on outside. I like to cook my fish at high heat and fast so it is still moist on inside. This BBQ does not do it.

I called Weber. They said my BBQ is working as designed. They told me it is designed to cook with top down not top up.

So if you like to roast or slow cook food this grill is fine. But if you like to cook top up and sear food quickly this grill does not cut the mustard.

I have been BBQíng for 37 years and have a reputation for being a very good cook. I do most the cooking at home. In past I am always purchased cheap Fiesta BBQ's. They all put out way more heat than this Weber. By a long shot!!! I just got back from Florida and was using BBQ's in the common area of the condo. Once again they were way way way hotter than the Weber.

From a quality perspective the Weber is made well. It is designed nice and it may last for many years. Unfortunately that will be many years of frustrated cooking for me.

BBQ's are a hard thing to try and then tell a store you want to return it. It is hard to know what your getting till you use it yourself. I will not be buying a Weber again.
If you want more in life you have to make an effort.

I have a charcoal Weber kettle, and that thing gets SUPER hot.  Never had a problem with my steaks being under-seared or improperly cooked.  Always yummy!   :lick:

??? On my Weber I don't even have it to the highest seething, perhaps 3/4. I sear each side for 1-2 minutes. Turn it down to 1/2 have cook for 4-5 minutes, and flip for another 4-5...perfect.

I like my steaks very rare and nicely grilled on outside. I flash grill at high heat. I doubt your method would give you rare steaks.

I am telling you this weber does not throw off enough heat and I have used a number of BBQ's that are way better.

^ I grilled a steak on my new Kamado a few days ago......certainly no issues searing it on high heat.  :)

I have cooked rare steaks on my Weber as it has the "Sear Station"  burner. Achieving the proper temperature has never been an issue. Weber has been making quality BBQ's for a long time and currently has the top two ratings in Consumer Reports.

We won a portable WeberQ (midsize model) in a contest 5 years ago and have been using it summer and winter ever since - it's great. It uses very little fuel (1 20-lb propane tank will last almost 1 year, grilling 2-3 days/week), it's light and can be picked up and taken on picnics, to the beach, wherever. Surprisingly there's generous space to grill for 4-5 people. I'd recommend one in a heartbeat as a well-made product that is sufficient for home use as well as being portable.

Do you ever plan on using the rotisserie? That would be a big benefit of the Broil King if I were buying...my in-laws use this feature all the time to do beef/lamb roasts and it turns out amazing. Broil King is a good quality mainstream product - certainly there are specialty brands where the quality goes up and up, but a Broil King is better than a generic Canadian Tire brand.
