Show us your (truck) box!!
« on: July 20, 2013, 07:11:11 pm »
With all the recent talk of "people shouldnt buy trucks if they dont plan on using like a truck" that has been running through this forum Id thought we could appease the car folks with pictures of your trucks doing truck things. Pictures of a scratched bed, hauling a load of hay, pulling a big trailer, crawling through mud or whatever you do with yours. Airbalancer, Keh-vin.....come on guys!!!

Lighten up Francis.....

The old Mazda with fencing supplies:

Air shocks were the key on that truck to having something that road nicely when unloaded but could still take a fair cargo.

Former work trucks of mine:

2400lbs of paving stone.  Slightly over the payload rating, but took it very slow (< 30km/h) on the short ride home.

Why don't you just pour concrete?  Or do they not do that in Sask?

Can't you see the concrete drive?  ;D ;D

Just mixing it up a bit.  Finishing up the front yard with a smaller paving stone patio to match the one in the back.  Love the look when completed.

The truck was sagging A LOT.  I should have measured.  Not bottomed out, but not far from it.

Sorry, but you're never going to see a load of topsoil or manure in the back of my truck.  :)

But, it does get used a fair bit for hauling. And I finally got our trailer on a scale and was somewhat surprised at its actual loaded weight. IIRC, we were around 7,000lbs, which is only 500lbs under the trailer gross.

As for the truck, we still had a nice margin (can't remember exactly, don't have the numbers in front of me). But thinking back to when we had the 1500 Suburban, I know we were right on the limit. I'm happy we went with the 2500 this time.

I had no issues with the hitch mount and felt like I was pulling a trailer at times over rough roads. The guy I sold it to had no issues as well. The local fab shop that made it for me ask if they could have a copy of the drawing and made a few more from what I hear.

Cool, thought having that much weight, that far out would be killer on a 1/2 ton....guess not!!
