I'd want leather though......other than that this is exactly what I'd be looking for.

Fast response!

"Hey John, cool to hear from you!  Since we last hung out, I now have two MR2 Turbos.  One is the 1991 I had last auto-x - 89,000 all original kms.  I'm the second owner and all the records are perfect.  This is a time capsule car that I'd part with, but warning, I'm going to ask at the top of the price range for it.  I'm not motivated to sell.  Mods are very simple with the addition of some upgraded suspension bits that make the car a bit more controlled at the limit.  I'd have to research pricing.

The other one is a 1992, and I've really gone to town on it.  The engine is all redone from top to bottom - probably handle 600hp if I wanted to push it that far.  It's got a better/bigger turbo, swapped boost control and on and on.  Right now at low boost it makes 350 at the wheels, dyno sheet to show.  Very streetable.  Twist the boost knob and 450hp is there, no issues.  E153 is all fresh including LSD.  It's also red, with some minor exterior mods, all tasteful.  This car I'd sell as I've started an IS300 2JZ big turbo project that will replace the MR2 as my fun toy."

Wow, that's quick John.  Any idea what price range he's looking at for his 91?

The price on the second one doesn't seem too bad... mileage looks like 156k miles from the the pics.

He's going to do some homework and see of the prices are high enough to get him to sell.

BUY THE 1992!  I'll drive it out!  I'll even pay for the three sets of tires I'll go through...

I'd definitely love to see pics of both of them, although the 91 appeals to me more.  Definitely keep me posted.

Me too.  Love to drive it.  Damn, I wonder what those little cars are like with all that power.  I'll email and ask for pics of both cars.  As much I love time-capsule cars, modded ones can be awesome too.

I'd also like to hear more about his IS.  I could even offer some advice on components.... ;)  Personally, I think a big turbo is a mistake.  But it depends what "big" is to him.

He's been building awesome cars for a long time.  I suspect he means "big" turbo IS300 meaning "very involving" as opposed to "big turbo."

I think this is the only digital pic that I have of my MKI MR2.

I had an red 1986 Mk1.  I loved that car.  I was just missed out on buying a supercharged 1989 so bought a 1992 Miata.  My brother had a 1992 NA Mk2.  I loved the styling of that car, but it wasn't as much fun to drive.
Don't fight it.  The sooner you get it the better.

$8800 USD for this one.  Hmmm.  And oddly enough, I purchased my S2000 from Chicago as well.....

I met the owner of this Mk2 at the track last August.  He replaced his seats with BRZ seats.

Another friend of mine and his wife each own a Mk1 (the red and blue ones here).  He goes to a lot of car meets here in Ottawa.  Let me know if you want reach out to him to see if he knows anyone with a Mk2 that might be interest in selling.

Sorry, my friend is not going to part with his all-original MR2, at least not for a while.  He feels the money isn't where he needs to give it up.  If prices never get there, he'll just keep it.  I know how he feels - I'm in the same place with the Miata.
