It sure is nice when companies listen and react. Amazing in just one year. The front looks Accord-like. I agree with the reviewer that the back end isn't as successful. Overall very impressive and it puts the Civic back on the list to consider when replacing my 2009 EX-L. A six speed manual would have been very welcomed however!

Kudos to Honda for responding so quickly.  That said, I wonder how hard/costly it will be to source body parts, etc that were unique to a 1 model year car.

I drove the '13 Civic the same day Mike did as well. I enjoyed it; kudos to Honda for reacting so quickly. It's what makes them one of my favourite companies to interact with.

There are many changes for good. But why Honda decided to keep the double deck for the Civic when the entry Acura is back to normal dash board?

So that maybe someone will buy the Acura? With these interior updates, it's eating into that ILX territory, so keeping the traditional gauge cluster and better tech for those that can afford to step up makes sense to me.

sadly, ILX isn't as competitive in its class as the Civic now should be, so it's really just a Civic upgrade...

This Civic will make the ILX completely irrelevant.  They put in the thicker glass, better insulation, steering ratio, suspension tweaks and better materials that the small Acura has received in the first place.  The only things going for the Acura is the bigger engine and standard gauge layout.

I feel bad for my neighbour who splurged 32K for an ILX Tech earlier this summer.  I wonder what Acura will make of it after they put 4K rebates on the hood?

Sucks if you bought a 2012 Civic. I feel bad for my old neighbors, they bought a coupe AND a sedan!
Looks basically the same as my 12, except  for the front and rear treatments. I actually prefer  the 12 because it has less of that chrome treatment. The drivetrain
is the same.  If they improved the interior and reduced the wind noise that would be an improvement.

It doesn't really matter what you buy. Within a few months something else will come along that will be the flavour of the day.

All the info is on honda.com.

US specs indicate that the EX and EX-L come with 205/55-16 alloy wheels.  But the Canadian review mention 215/55-17 for both models north of the border.  Why?  If I wanted the hard riding suspension and tires for our cold winters and pothole strewn streets, I'd be getting an SI.  16 inchers would strike the perfect balance IMO.

BTW, all the soundproofing and thicker glass added 88 lbs to a mid trim EX Auto...

Nice. Looks just like a Civic. :)

Good on Honda for seeing the error of their ways and turning the Civic around so fast.

The ILX is brilliant. Do you really think the Verano is better in any way other than being quieter?

i dunno.  entry luxury nowdays is pretty crowded.  woah..  i just looked up acura site, and it starts at less than 30k?  dang, i'm gonna go test drive one....   but i would think jonathan is pretty informed when it comes to cars?

And the others who are saying the opposite aren't?  The fantastic 6 speed manual alone if a reason to buy the ILX from what I've read..

You know what they say about opinions....

ILX out sports the Verano, the Verano out luxuries the ILX.  Depends on priorities of the buyer really

not saying i don't respect other people's view on the car (except yours, ron.  ;D ;D :rofl2: :rofl2:), just saying jonathan might know a thing or two that general public may not.    i for one, don't know anything about verano or ILX.  test driven neither, and up until this moment, didn't want to test drive either.  but i'm intrigued now.

I understood.  I'm saying essentially the same thing as you...the other magazines, car writes who like the ILX quite a lot might also know a thing or two that you or I do not.

I did a double take at this image:

I don't know quite what it is, but that looks like a near-perfect driver's seat experience. I love the way it curves around the driver...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I adore the interior of the Civic.

i dunno, to me it looks rather disjointed and complex.  (civic interior, that is)

i saw first one on the road today, driven by a cute asian girl(with a surly looking asian dude in the passenger seat) and thought it looked fine.  better than the pics, in fact.
