I think they opened a big new factory in the US, one of the right-to-work states, for XC90 production. Makes sense.

I think the S60 is being built there??

I know they're building an XC90 plant in India.  Not sure if that's where they will come from.

Most S60s are built in Belgium, like my C30.

They are being built at the new plant in the USA:  http://www.volvocars.com/us/about/our-company/south-carolina-factory
well, they will be when production starts a little over a year from now...ah, i remember when this region was the automotive hotbed of NA.
So right now, it's still Belgium.
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

Nice wagon but it bears a striking resemblance to the new 2017/18 Opel Insignia which rumour has it will surface in NA as a Buick Regal, likely at well under $50K.  Wonder what that'll do to sales numbers.  Check it out:  http://jalopnik.com/the-2017-opel-insignia-wagon-will-make-you-want-to-buy-1792037046.

Saw one of these for the first time in the flesh on the way home from work today.  Gorgeous car and looks like nothing else on the road.

Did a little digging and you're right.  I have to wonder, if you already have a NA legal vehicle why reduce your sales potential in Canada??  Even if they only sell 500, it's still 500 more than they would have sold otherwise!

because for car companies it is a lot more involved than just to bring the car over here and put a price tag on it...wish it was simpler there is a lot of forbidden fruit that would be nice to have over on this side of the pond

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

That's the point, if they've made the wagon legal in the States then adding day time running lights, an immobilizer and possibly a clutch lock-out to the wagon should not be a big deal particularly as they're going to sell the sedan version in Canada ..... so ????.

The nearest Volvo dealer told me that we would get the V90 and so would the USA. But in the USA it would not be in showrooms it would be order only.

Yes, the U.S. gets the Cross Country but the normal version is order-only.

While that does limit its appeal it's nice to see Volvo actually offering a product for sale that they know will be of limited popularity.

At least BMW still sells the 3-series wagon here.

The A4 wagon is sold here as the Allroad.   Jacked up just a bit and only in Technik trim so it is expensive.

There's a couple of V90 sitting at the Quebec City dealer. They look gorgeous!

Not just Technik, it's available in three trim levels.

You can't get the good engine or a manual in the BMW.

The Audi isn't a wagon. I don't want the stupid cladding.

I agree, but it doesn't look too bad with the body-color flares. Just needs to be lowered a bit. And they're seriously quick.

Last I checked, Audi will no longer be offering the body colored flares in the North American market.  Same thing with the Black Optics package on some models.

Black Optics is typically a late introduction package which is why it's not yet available on the new models (Q7, Q5, A4/S4, A5/S5).

If there was ever an Audi generation that needed the Black Optics package it is this one.  The amount of chrome is just hideous.

Agreed, I can't stand the look of these models with the chrome/aluminum bits.
