Dunlop Sportmax RoadSmarts? Probably the best road tires I've used. Great in the wet and dry. Lasted well too.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I think the Roads are meant more for touring.

I disagree.  I used the Road Smarts as my all-surface supermoto tires, because the wet grip is so stupendous.  And dry they were supersport grippy.
At a track day, guys were using these as their "wet slicks" on sportbikes.  Awesome tire!!

The most stupendous tires I've ever used as far as street grip were Conti Attack SM tires.  When I drove like an swerver, I could easily kill a set in under 5000kms...and I think I wasted a set in 3500kms.  Mind boggling grip!

I have a set of Conti Attack2 in dirt-bike size for my G450x, think I might mount them to get it safetied,  my Trakmasters  haven't arrived yet and the tires on it aren't DOT

Might be fun.

I'd not hesitate to throw a set of these on an R3 because of the R3's light weight.

Whoops, I meant Michelin Pilot Road

I have $398 US in parts to order from Partzilla in operation make my Vino 125 nice to ride for the next few months before I sell it. Basically all brand new painted body panels, new mirrors, something I can be proud to ride before I put it on the market in June. I also need a new speedometer cable because the one I have broke after only 5,000km, might as well order a second one just in case, a dozen screws, right brake lever, etc.

I was dinged GST and PST last time I ordered stuff, $97 tax bill on $808 CA worth of parts ($540 + $78 shipping US) that was part of my engine rebuild.

I'm wondering what the threshold is with CBSA before they are likely to ding taxes? I've been dinged taxes on a used set of wheels and tires valued at $440 CA before bringing stuff across the border and I was threatened taxes on a brand new tablet worth $400 but they didn't because the cashiers were on shift change. So I'm thinking $400 is that threshold.

I dunno, it seems pretty random to me. For sure I've had to pay tax on items less than $400. Maybe it depends on whether there's duty to be paid as well?

And a while ago I ordered a bicycle part from the States. Around $80 with shipping, and no tax or duty charged when it arrived. But I screwed up and had to order the exact same part again a week later. This time, they wanted $5.35 when it showed up. ???

Only difference was the first time they sent it in a padded envelope, and the second time it came in a small box.

So, at the discretion of the CBSA officer then.

Trying to think of things I bought from the US I haven't been dinged on:
-$343 exhaust for my Vino 125 last year
-$1,100 ring back in 2008

Note these are all through USPS Canada Post, not the commercial carriers like UPS which seem to ding brokerage costs no matter what. Partzilla uses UPS Mail Innovations which is a bit unique -- the use UPS to send the package to USPS and then the package goes into Canada via USPS/Canada Post.

I'll split my order into two or three, shipping costs will cost the same as one shipment +/- $5.

Ugh I realized I posted in the wrong thread. lol.

I stopped by the BMW Motorrad centre last weekend in hopes of seeing one, but they don't have any. Granted, local market demands are mostly adventure and touring bikes.......

The local Victory dealer is blowing out their stock. Pretty steep discounts.

They do look good.

Yup, now that Victory is gone, everyone loves them haha.

Their touring / baggers are little out there, but the cruisers I all find I like better than HD.

That 106 engine though, reliable but old school and that's part of the reason for their demise.  They didn't update anything for 10 years.

So no different than Harley, just without the old age/nostalgia factor.  I need to go look...the dealers out here have quite a few right now too.  If nothing else, a boy/man can dream, right?

speaking of Harley, it looks like they recently released a new bike, the Streed Rod...it is essentially a reworked Street 750...Lemmy at revzilla did a first ride review on it and was quite impressed...in short, he said this is really what the Street 750 should have been...he says that HD must have listened to the critics regarding fit/finish and any shortcomings and appeared to have addressed them all i this version...at $10,399, it's a $1400 bump over a standard Street 750 but seems to be well worth the premium.

The Street Rod is what the Street 750 should've been in the first place. I don't see where the almost $3k premium over a SV650 and FZ-07 with similar HP and torque would go to, comparing ABS to ABS models.

Still nice to see a Harley Davidson you can do some canyon carving on with the 27 degree rake on the inverted front and almost 40/37 degree lean angle. Not quite sport bike territory but more than enough for a majority of sport bike riders out there.
