With improper footwear, I can report that the AWD system often feels held back because of the lack of traction, and that the ABS system provides a nice foot massage as you try to stop, and skid past your intended driveway or stop sign. Get your winter tires on folks: with them, this machine should be pretty much unstoppable.

Unfortunate choice of words  :rofl2:
'Cause you can only drive down Main St. so many times

It's unstoppable except when you need it to.

yea...unstoppable as in "can't be stopped", not "unable to stop".

OH, thanks for clearing that up, I assumed that once you put winter tires on it, the brakes would cease functioning.  I thought that was a strange feature, but with GM, you never know.

Some of you already mentioned better vehicles than this...Explorer platinum, Acura MDX, Lincoln MKX, mid-level Lexus RX!

One of these does not belong.  Which one do you think?

The RX....only seats 5 and that front grille....bleh.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yes, but most of those are optioned up into the 80K range.

Only thing the Explorer offers over this is the TTV6, even with that its only slightly quicker and much thirstier.

Acadia looks much better than the dated Explorer in and out imo.

With the discounts the Acadia is quite the deal, even if it doesn't offer boosted engines.  Though if the Acadia offered V6 TT it would be a no brained for us.  The 3rd row is the cherry on the cake for us DINKS with dogs as we'd  seldom use the rear most seat.

What discounts? GM doesn't seem to have any listed...

To my eyes, the Acadia looks like a Dodge product, a Durango kinda thing.

Gotta say, the price watered my eyes.  So many outstanding products at that price.
