Got the clips to replace the windshield trim on the Explorer, took about 35 seconds to do.

Warning to any Explorer owners:  if you get your windshield replaced, the glass shops have a habit of gluing the side trim pieces back on, because they claim that the clips break off.  Then the trim flies off when you're on the highway.

I'm not going back to that glass place (Speedy) again, there are other options who don't glue the trim on.

Oil and my third DSG fluid change.

192000 kms then or close.    The DSG is still working well?

185,xxx

I know they say 64K changes but nothing wrong with 60K changes either, plus I can do the math in my head. ;)

Still works great but some changes were a little harder than when new lately. Will see is the new fluid smooths it back out again. I'm either driving like a granny or banging off multiple hard shifts, not much in between.

Will say that I'm a huge fan of the DSG and have zero issues with the way it drives but I still drive like I'm driving a manual car so that might have something to do with it.

Btw, still on my original front brakes.

Rad cracked in the T/A on saturday morning - nice way to start off my vacation. Ordered a new rad and hoses from PartSource and they came in on Sunday, so I decided to tackle it this morning. Job was surprisingly easy, working at a slow pace it took probably two hours, including clean up. Water pump is now the only component of the cooling system in that car I haven't replaced in the last year....

Finally got around to installing the air idle screw on Porsche today after work. I lost it during my lapping day a couple weeks ago. It was running fine (maybe a little high idle) with the trackside fix. I ordered an extra screw at the same time, just in case.

real huge change... popped on a red "trail rated" badge instead of the black one standard... heh...

trying little subtle bits of colour to see how it changes it. going to pop the grill insert in maybe today as well... thinking about adding some colour to it...

Bought some track shoes for the 951, what do you think Wing? Should be good for some lapping days?

Its a square set-up, 245/45/16 all around. Worst comes to worst I scrap the tires & get new ones. Finding four 8" wide phone dials in the early offset was the big score.

I think bright red contrast bits would look good...

Washed mine yesterday hoping that it won't rain for a few days.
While drying out excess water, I realized that it's badly in need of a paint correction & good waxing job.

Do you do that yourself? Or take it to a detailer place?

Bought new tires for the Yukon the other day. Did a bunch of research, and ended up just replacing the OE tires with another set of the same (well, same model, but without the GM TPC spec. - Bridgestone Duravis M700 HD)

Got over 90,000 kms out of the old ones, and they were still at 6-7/32", so can't argue with the tread wear. They're also quiet, decent off-road, have a moderately aggressive look, and are cheap - only $240/tire, including installation, at Costco. Not bad for a Load Range E tire in 265/70R17.

Nice tires. Cool truck too, don't see many 2500 SUV's around here.

Yeah, probably one 2500 for every twenty 1500s around here, too.

Our Suburban was a 1500, and we really liked it, but I adore the 2500. I hope to put at least 500k kms on it. I wonder if they'll still be making them when I'm shopping for a replacement sometime around 2030.  :D

Also repaired the rear bumper cover again today.

Last fall, I decided to stand on the rear bumper and jump up and down in an attempt to find the source of a rattle under the truck somewhere (turned out it was just worn exhaust hangers.) Couldn't replicate the noise, but did slip and fall, ripping all the mounting tabs off the bumper cover in the process. Oops.

Tried to fix it with strips of 3M VHB foam tape, but that only lasted a few months. First time it's failed me, as that stuff is crazy strong. It stuck to the bumper just fine, but didn't want to adhere to the bumper cover. Weird type of plastic, I guess.

So, tried again today with some JB Weld plastic epoxy. So far, so good, but will have to wait and see if it lasts.

After I got the epoxy on, I realized I'd need to weight the cover to press it tight for a bit. Remembered my old roommate Gary, from around 25 years ago, who gave me a solid lead bar as a going-away gift. Rummaged around the garage for a bit and found it. That's the thing on the right in the picture.

Craziest gift ever, but it is kind of cool. Can't remember what it weighs, exactly, but it's ridiculously heavy. Think he said it was used in type-setting back in the day.
