Took Bella's car down to Oshawa & back yesterday & today for her Cousin's funeral. Three of us in the car & some luggage in the trunk, not too loaded down. Took HWY 7 from Ottawa to Peterborough & then dropped down to the 401, did 705kms in total, average speed was 89km/hr (including puttering around town) & mileage came in at 6.7L/100km. Car performed well, the stock tires are on the loud side, close to end of life, so probably new shoes next summer. Was able to pull off a lot of passing along #7, dropping into 3rd gear & it was decent enough to scoot past a few cars at a time.

Just reviewing this whole post because I love reading about Mazda's. Just a heads up on rustproofing. Have them focus on the door mirrors. I see lots of these Mazdas around with strange streaking down the doors originating from the mirrors. I am assuming it is some kind of corrosion going on behind there. It may be worth trying to get some extra protection in that area.

I found this. It seems to corrosion is in the mirrors themselves. There is a TSB.

Thanks for the TSB, we've noticed a few Mazda's with that same issue.

I had to go back in the thread and see what Mazda was at hand here.  That's certainly an attractive vehicle.  However, being a security freak, I'd stash those Bella plates and get some non descrip ones.  Society is getting weirder.  Perhaps Ottawa is better off than the GTA cesspool for now.

Yeah that was my thought too. I have never been a fan of personalized plates and that is one of the reasons.

I have two thoughts on this.  First, I'd rather have a plate that is not easily remembered or invokes vandalism such as a plate that read for example F*TRUDY.

Second one and the most relevant are personal plates that identify the driver from the rear as a woman.  Essentially the plate is advertising same.  There are more messed up people driving about than we care to know about.

LOL... Few weekends ago I passed by a house in the Owen Sound area with this exact lawn sign... Was that your house Steve?

haha.  No, you can't see my house from the street.  I did that on purpose.  I don't really approve of the F thing actually on signage.  Pointless in my riding where CONS will dominate in perpetuity and the super socialists live in a alternate reality.  ;D

Got it Krown'd today. Plan is to get it done every two years going forward now. Bella's loving the car, so as long as it is reliable (should be), I see her keeping it for a long while.

A double KROWN!  Never too late.

The perception about Krown is that it only prevents body rust.  It does that, but it also makes all the fasteners and bolts serviceable for the life of the vehicle which is critical.

Gurgie; you're a good spender.
