Did I miss the thread with the name change to "Bubba", what's up with that?

That's been my nickname IRL since 1986.

You guys are that obsessed with monitoring fuel economy?  ???

Obsessed?  No.  I just keep track of every penny I spend on gas.

This Sonata will show both, instant and average FE on the odometer. No need for it to look like a test mule  ;) Unless that's the look you are after  :P

My Sonata shows AVG L/100kms only, not real time.

I think you're right an my memory is slipping. The time I got 5.6 - 5.7 was when I filled up the tank right before the highway ramp, so it was a purely highway average that's very similar to instant consumption given a fixed cruise speed.

My Mazda doesn't have a built in fuel consumption meter, a glaring omission from the 2012 Skyactivs. The 2013s got it.

My 2008 Mazda 6 didn't, I think the Mazda 5 just had average.

You had an 08-10 Mazda 5 right? My 07 Mazda 5 had nothing either.

2010 Mazda 5 GT.  Probably right.  Something I rarely use.  Just on long trips, more for curiosity.

It's a game to me. If I got a hybrid, I'd have just as fun as driving a manual transmission. Still kinda kicking myself for not getting a Prius C instead of my Mazda 3.

hahah I used to be obsessed with my old Jetta 2000 TDI.  Now I don't monitor as much

I'm taken my Scangauge to Arizona for an update.  Their office is in Mesa so I take it directly to them.

OK - the Bubba nick change bamboozled me as well.  Congrats on the new ride.  Looks like you got a great deal.  I love the clarity and simplicity of the instruments.  My sister and her husband are on their 4th Hyundai (2012 Sonata).  I agree that yours looks better than the generations that followed.

Visited the Linear Logic office, the makers of Scangauge.  They provided an update free of charge ($25 USD if unit is mailed to them) and they installed a new display, also at no charge.

Took the car to have the speedo checked.  It's 7% fast: when indicating 100 km/h, actual speed is 93.

When the Scangauge is showing 100 km/h, both my Garmin GPS and Waze app are showing 101 km/h.  I'll be keeping KM/H on the Scangauge display.

I find that level of inaccuracy unacceptable.

assuming the tire sizes are OEM, that inaccuracy is likely done on purpose and is not exclusive to Hyundai...i've read that many are like this...it is supposed to be a "mental" thing, where you think you are going faster than you really are to help prevent people from speeding (and getting tickets/accidents) as well as improved fuel economy.

Yes, the tires are OEM-sized.  That's the kind of silly thinking where people set their clocks ahead ten minutes so they won't be late.   ::)  My last two cars (Sebring, Mazda3) both were within 2%.

:censor: that :censor:!  lol  Like I said, I'll continue to keep KM/H posted on the Scangauge, where it's 1% slow at 100 km/h.

I have the same issue with my Entourage.  Speedometer says 100 km/h.  GPS says 94 km/h.  Don't really care.  I don't tell me wife, at least it help her from speeding.  I am sure it does with her.
