MotoGP 2018
« on: March 18, 2018, 03:21:02 pm »
Brilliant race to start off 2018! All riders pushing a blistering pace setting personal bests in the last several laps of the race.

And Rossi...39 years old...on the podium.  Truly extraordinary.

I'll say what I say every year...if you like racing..real racing..you need to tune into MotoGP.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I just bought a subscription to the app so I can watch.  Not bad. But all the action happens in the last lap! ha ha

Crutchlow is my man.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Dovi ! Dovi ! Dovi !  ;D

Also a fan of Zarco, intrigued to see where this year will take him.

Crashlow needs more wet races! He seems to crash during the dry but stays upright in the wet!

Don't have internet at home yet so haven't watched the entire race, but pretty stoked Zarco placed 2nd  :bounce: , Dovi had his struggles though.

He also made another one of his bone-headed, over-zealous (ran out of talent) pass attempts and put Pedrosa on the deck.  The crash could have been worse as it was a high side.

Oh..and on the opening lap too.   ::)

Another guy in addition to Marquez who the MotoGP stewards need to get their attention to stop them from riding like goons.

I know you think I'm ball-breaking (I'm guessing you haven't watched much MotoGP/Cruthlow in the past), I'm just posting an observation after watching the guy for the last several years.  Goes well in the wet.  IIRC, 3-4 of his podiums in the last couple of years that were otherwise marred by many crashes came in the wet.

In 2016, when he started the year with 4 crashes in 8 starts he got his first podium of the season in the wet.  Then, 2 weeks later he won his first ever MotoGP race....in the wet at Brno. Before that first win in Brno, his previous best finish was 2nd.  In the wet in France.  He also has more wet wins than dry wins.

Just sayin'....guy seems to do well in the wet.  The wet is the great equipment equalizer too.

Pedrosa has a wrist fracture.  Is going for surgery today.

Riders are very unhappy with the track surface at CoTA. Very bumpy in some sections. And very dusty with what they are calling cement dust.

Forecast is rain today so that mixing with the dust will be like fine mud.

Marquez riding like a buffon AGAIN. Blocked Vinales during qualifying..the guy who was the fastest on track are the time and a threat to his pole position time.

Marquez penalized to the second grid. Not enough penalty IMO given his recent stupidity.

Setlling down to lunch at home with MotoGP en direct on TV.....it’s nice living on the right continent !

Hope Dovi and Zarco can pull off a good result  :D

Actually considered attending the GP of France in person @LeMans (3 day weekend) but couldn’t get accomodations sorted out, as you might suspect.....

Dovi re-signed at Ducati through 2020.

Guess he was happy...broke the Le Mans lap record later in the day.

I wanted quite badly to attend the French GP in person this weekend, especially given the holiday on Monday. But with all of the moving and settling in, it was far too late to find accomodation by the time I was ready to start looking.

So I guess I'll have to catch it on TV on Sunday- I'll be in France (again, as usual) so supporting the hometown favourite but I would be also happy if Dovi won.

You should have made every effort.

You should still try and see if you can find anything. It's an incredible spectacle.

Trust me, if i could, I would. But picking up and completely relocating is a lot of work, and Le Mans itself doesn’t have a ton of lodging due to its modest size. Think of it like the size of Saguenay or London (ON). I’ve been to the track and city last fall and can see how it’d be overwhelmed.

But now that I live on the continent, I have next year. Or other MotoGP venues, if I really want to.
