I'm hoping there's gotta be more than value when it comes to choosing a car.  How it drives, how it looks, how it feels etc...

You are absolutely correct, IMO. On the other hand, you have to agree that not including NAV or power seats does not befit a marque positioning itself as the ultimate luxury car, especially with a $60k+ price tag. That's just plain cheap and wrong.
And that's coming from someone who WANTS to own a Benz.

It was your comment on how driving into a Country Club or ritzy hotel in a $25k Hyundai "just doesn't work"  What exactly doesn't work?  Is there fear of being shunned by the Country Club crowd or a Valeter at the hotel?   :)

Actually, you make a valid point.  My daughter worked at one of THE golf clubs in Calgary.  Family membership - $50,000 a year.  On one occasion early in the morning, I went to the club to pick her up.  Drove to the club parking lot in my daily commuter - 2002 Ford Focus, base model.  Parked in the front row by the main entrance.  Nobody would park near me.  Benz, BMW, Jag.  Everybody parked not two spots away from me, but a whole row away from me!  I literally had the front row to myself. I guess they figured I was one of the kitchen staff and should be parking on the other side of the lot. So yeah.  At some clubs the Focus and probably the Hyundai just wouldn't work.

I'd stretch a little more and step up to THE big dog in the class: The TT-RS.  Okay, no drop-roof, but the Audi is an a$$-kicking performance machine that can run laps with cars like the R8.

Boxster offers more power and better chassis and no worse build quality (maybe better...)

Personally, I'd be happy with the Miata and a lot of money in the bank.

The best used MB we owned was probably the C36.  Sure, AMG-unique parts were pricey, but the car was very carefully constructed.  I wonder if newer AMG models are the same?

I'd throw the BMW Z4 into the mix as well.  Starting price of $54k, and 50 more ponies even in the base engine.  Hmmm......

I doubt that there are many buyers who cross shop these two cars. I think they both appeal to different people. One is sort of a performance car, the other a boulevard sport.

I think that the only reason that u would buy the 250 would be manual transmission and from what I have read their manuals are not that great. I would spend the extra and get the 350.

Comparing an Slk a boxster, I really don't know which one I would choose. I love the look of the SLK long hood short rear deck and the big star at the front. Only other I know is the SLS roadster that does it better looks wise. The boxster even with its new itineration (best looking boxster yet ) I really don't find all that great looking.   I would love it for all the other reasons that Porsches are great cars. Except that with options it can cost more than a Carrera. Plus the best build it app on the web I have seen. Deciding which to buy would be a problem I would like to have.
Sorry Mazda's suck. Parts can be hard to find, and way, way, way to expensive. $1600 for a mass airflow sensor,$700 used for their van. I guess in one way the miatta does have equal value with the MB the cost of parts.
