My fave Ford after the Mustang.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

I like the Flex.  It's way too big for our needs, but if we needed a 7 passenger suv this would be at the top of the list.

My fave Ford after the Mustang.

So the Focus RS is third ;)

I also really like these. Would be near the top of my big car list.

I dig the exterior, always have, but the interior needs work... some of the plastics look super cheap in those pics.  Seats don't look overly comfortable or supportive in any way either  :-\

of all the CUVs/SUVs I hate, this is not one of them

respect, because it knows what it is and is damn good at it, and is not trying to be something it should not be

buddy has one, not treating him well on the reliability front, but it is one hell of a nice place to be for an extended trip

I have liked this since it appeared...a Volvo 245 on steroids.  I'll never buy one, too big, but I think it is the most useful of the three, Edge,Explorer and Flex.

Not to mention the comment in the review about mismatched door panels. Handing a $60K automobile over to a reviewer (or buyer) with such a glaring defect is just lame.

back in 2013 while on a family vacation to Vancouver Island, we rented one of these (can't remember the trim level, but it was the Ecoboost and was loaded with the park assist, leather, MyFordTouch, etc).  My wife, mother in law, and 3 late teens/early twenties boys all fit in here with our luggage for a 5 day vacation.  I feel in love with the power, handling and comfort of this thing, my wife and mother in law never got over the appearance, however I was making progress on converting the wife to a believer - until my right foot got the better of me.

Some poor unsuspecting middle aged crisis fellow (wait - I am middle aged too!) in a Challenger RT with a hemi chuckled at me whilst sitting at a traffic light leading north on the highway and onto an expanse of open freeway.  I looked at him and gave him the "nod" and began the tradition of silently building up the revs in the Flex with one foot on the brake and one on the gas.  The Challenger driver recognized my challenge and when the light turned green, he threw down the gauntlet.  To his (and my) surprise, the big old Flex got up in a hurry and left him in the dust - all the way up to a speed of about 50 kms north of the posted 100km limit!  Victory for the Flex, however it was ultimately my loss as that event sealed my fate to never owning one of these hot rods, a quite back handed slap and a few choice words later and my wife had delivered her solid rationale and business case for my never owning one.

Someday, Flex, someday....

I find it hard to believe that a 375hp V8 Challenger could be left in the dust by a 365hp Flex loaded down with a family unless:

A) it was in snow
B) the driver of the Challenger wasn't really racing, having deemed that a station wagon wasn't worth the fuel consumed by a WOT pull.

You can probably get good deals. If anything the Flex is going to be discontinued, which is a shame.

I dunno. The Challenger is a pig so the weight difference isn't that much.  Shorter gearing, AWD and low RPM torque could at least make it close.

Its styling and lack of buttons inside are not for me, but 14L/100km isn't too bad considering the hp and torque numbers.
Heck, I'd be lucky to to get 14 on my MDX with 300hp.

Ford Flex Ecoboost AWD Curb Weight:  4828lbs
Flex Power: 365 hp @ 5500 rpm
Flex Torque: 350 ft-lbs @ 1500 rpm

Dodge Challenger R/T Curb Weight: 4082lbs.
Challenger Power: 375 hp @ 5150 rpm
Challenger Torque: 410 ft-lbs @ 4300 rpm

That's an 800lb difference in curb weight alone.  Factor in an additional few hundred pounds for the family that CC had in his rental Flex, and I again find it hard to believe that a Flex would walk away from a Challenger R/T.  Yeah, the Hemi isn't known for its low down torque, but it makes MORE peak torque, and MORE HP, with lower weight.  Even accounting for drive ratios, the Flex does not beat a Challenger R/T.

I think the poster's story is a case of the fish growing with the telling.

Yeah but the wife doesn't want to drive a hearse with a crappy interior for 10 years. :P
