If there's a rim you'd like to upgrade too (usually a newer, nicer, optional, etc factory style for me) then I'd run the original rims as winters and get your nicer set for the summer.

I agree, thats what I did with the 6.

I could go down 2 sizes on the Fusion.  I had 16's from the Taurus, but the bolt pattern was different, so I bought new wheels, swapped the rubber over and it fits just fine.  You can feel the difference - they're 15lbs less each, mounted, than the factory wheels and tires.
These are what 16's look like.

But I wouldn't mind if they were 18's or 19's...whatever this would work out to...I should check if Tire Rack has a clearance on this size...

Yep, A3 is a good choice. Fits all the parameters well.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

A3 was on the short list as well, along with the GTI, but in the end a 2011 BMW 323i was the winner. Was on Kijiji for a few days & then the owner wanted it sold by today to fund her new car purchase. Ended up we were in the right place at the right time with cash in hand. Car is in great shape, spotless inside, no stains or rips inside, it's been rust proofed, properly maintained, 2 owner car with 122,000kms on it. No issues anywhere that I could spot & should pass safety with ease. Came with an extra set of alloy wheels (happy Vman?) for winters. Car drove great, no issues with the clutch, brakes, transmission, suspension, was very tight overall. In the end it hit all the right buttons at the right price. We pick it up tomorrow after work, then will get it safetied on Friday, e-tested & registered on Saturday. Will do a proper show n shine once we have it, but here's a couple pics from the ad.

Oh & this one DOES have Bluetooth, lol!

Yeah, an E46 would've been nice, but too old for her. I don't like the F30 series and from what I've read ones in her price range would've been questionable reliability wise.

Thanks!! It hit all the right buttons for her... and I suppose for me from a maintenance/reliability perspective. The car is mint & really well take care of!! And I didn't mind how it drove, it's got decent power. It does drive butter smooth & the car feels so tight & well put together still.  The small inline 6 will be decent on gas for her as well, her son plays hockey based outta Perth, so she's all over with that.

Now to get a set of winters for it. It came with 17" alloys for winters, would've preferred 16's, but oh well.

Ah, interesting. Must have been one of those last year of production packages that BMW is keen on offering in Canada.

Yeah, managed to find this in my research before we went to see the car... the way it is optioned, would've cost ~$39.5k before taxes.
