The H and the Y are just different speed ratings......(duh). Some cars are electronically limited at 240 or 250 km/h so that would exceed the H-speed capability rating of 210km/h.

Kind of like how there is Standard Load and XL load....depends on what the vehicle needs.

I always found H rated stuff to be really squishy even at 100km/h. Noticeably worse than V.

I would only go H rated for winters.... And if I were driving something more hardcore then maybe even need to do W/Y/Z for summers instead of V

Michelin Pilot Super Sport - they are excellent in the rain!  Since you already have winters, I wouldn't go with all seasons (e.g., the A/S3).

This has my vote

Bit of price difference.  Depends on the budget. $175 for the A/S 3, and $225, for the Super Sport.  That's for the 17" option.

I am still waiting for Costco.ca to get my A/S 3!

Y rated tires typically have shorter braking distances as they deform less under sudden deceleration.

Boy do I hate buying tires. Would love to be able to test 3 or 4 sets on a small course so I could at least get a feel for how they handle.

My latest list.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (Y)
Bridgestone RE760 Sport
Hankook K120
Yokohama S. Drive

I'm thinking they will all perform very similar. Maybe I'll just go with what ever is in stock?

Ruled out the Michelin Super Sports as I don't think I can see the value in paying more for only a little performance gain that I will hardly ever use. Remember, most of my driving is hwy.

Thankfully the crap weather this week means the winters are still doing their job.

Need to decide soon.

Picked these up from Costco at lunch time!  Install Thursday at my mechanic!

Out of that list of four, I would go for the Michelin.

Was reading up some reviews and it looks like the Yokohama S-drive has one of the longer braking distances. Haven't read reviews on the others.

Just buy the Michelin's and don't look back.

Just bought the Michelin Pilot Spor A/S 3 few weeks back and I am very happy with them. I had Kaltire giving me a better price then Costco. Kaltire has a policy to beat competitors prices by 5%. I ended up paying $700 and I get $70 back from Michelin. I have done a lot of research and these ended up being my choice.

Good point. I think I'm over analyzing everything now. Stats, reviews....Every single tire I'm looking at is already better than what I'm replacing. Heck even my 5 year old winters have more than enough dry traction for 90% of my driving.

Will place a call in the morning.

Ordered the PS A/S 3's. Install date is April 30th and I only got that early date because my wheels are already off the car so they just have to replace the rubber. If they were on the car I would have had to wait at least another 3-4 days.

Tires are on the car now. Early impressions from my drive home from Mississauga...

Quiet - I know I'm use to the noise from my winters so everything is relevant but the tires are nice and quiet. Took them up to 140 and could barely hear them.

Ride/handling - I really like the ride these give. Firm but not rough. Feels very smooth. Turn-in is very good.

I only had the chance to go through a couple of round-a-bouts but there were cars in my way so I always had to stop/slow to a crawl before entering. I can notice more grip than my winters (as they should) and will slowly try to find the limits. Still have no troubles getting the TC light to have a stroke when of full boost in second gear.

I will say that my 5 year old winter tires (Hankook ipike's) were still working very well on dry and warm roads. Although noisy and 'rough' I could still push them hard.

I have some more hwy miles coming up soon and will probably find time to go around the round-a-bouts again (hopefully with no traffic) and will updated again later.

Looking through my emails I noticed that in 2012 I had a quote for Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus for $1100 which is $200 more than I paid for these. That also reminds me that I only got 3 years out of my Yoko Envigor's. I might have been able to squeeze another summer out of them but I wouldn't trust them in the wet so not worth it.

Just got my son (Pontial Vibe GT) a set of General Tire Altimax RT43 (Made in the USA and owned by Continental Tire Co.)

Very Good Reviews on tire sites and good competitive pricing and current $35 rebate on set of 4.
