Dog Pics
« on: November 02, 2011, 09:12:21 pm »
Ok, so fellow dog owners post up some pics of your pups.  I am, and always have been, such a HUGE dog lover.  I've had dogs my entire life and couldn't image being without one.  IMHO, they are the best companion ever.

My current dog, who's name is Vegas, is a Golden Retriever/Duck Toller mix.  I've had a variety of dogs in my life but Vegas has certainly been the best dog I've had.

Any ways, a few pics of Vegas.   Post up your pics of your own dog.

When I first brought her home.

And now all grown up.  :)

And after playing in the river in our back yard.

Here's my Shep-Rottie X, Drake, lost him 2 years ago at 11 years old. Would love another dog, but we are trying to be away in the winters for extended periods and it doesn't work too well right now, maybe later. Love dogs.

Chris, I originally posted this in the car review section by mistake but thought I moved it to the OT section successfully.  Sorry man, thanks for the proper move.

No worries, Canuck. I wasn't upset. How could I be, when faced with photos of cute dogs?

Love dogs.  Don't own one - wouldn't pan out with both my wife and I commuting Oakville / Toronto daily.

But when I visit with my bladesmithing / hunting buds down in the States, it's dog central and I get my fix.  So does my daughter, who loves them as much as I do.

Here she is with Jessie - a sweet mutt of indeterminate age.  She was a fully grown adult when taken in as a stray - 16 years ago.  Still going strong:

Penny is a German Shorthair Pointer and one heck of a bird dog.  She can run forever:

At camp for the opening of deer season last year:

Kicking back at the cabin with a Beagle blanket:

His name's Bergen. He's on the small side for a Lab, but that's not a bad thing as he fits fine in the back of the GTI.

Tucker, our 4 year old Lhasa Apso. Great dog with kids.

Had one too, his name was Roco.  :)

These dogs are so cute!  The gf and I are thinking of getting a Golden and those pics are sealing the deal.  I have pics of my extended families dogs like a rottie and beagle, I'll post them up in a bit

Mike, you'll have no regrets getting a Golden.  Goldens (and all other types of Retrievers) have such a great disposition and temperament.  Fantastic around kids too!

Great pics folks, keep them coming!  :)

We really wanted one of these, but the life expectancy is a bit worrisome

We also love these guys, one is in our neighbourhood and is so cute.  The drool factor and size are a bit much for us

^^^ I absolutely LOVE the larger breeds, but the short lifespan means heartbreak right around the corner.

Exactly, Great Dane's, Bull mastiff's, Malamutes, all so cute and have great temperaments.

That is why a Golden could be the right choice for us.

I don't see how you could go wrong with a Golden.

That first one, is it a Bernese mountain dog?

One of my closest friends has one of these.  It's less than a year old and it's HUGE!!  It's gotta way a good 120lbs already.  A very nice dog indeed.

On the left:
My sister's Great Dane, Tucker, and one of her cats.  Poor bugger is around 8 or 9 years old and crippled up.  His tail is still quite the weapon though - right at crotch/waist height.

On the right:
My family's dog when I was growing up, Muff.  My parents bought her for $10 from family friends in 1981.  She died in 1999.  My mom fed her a small bowl of Frosted Flakes each morning as a treat.

The inlaws' Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, Nick.  He's a wonderful dog.  He lets himself out during the summer by jumping up and pushing on the handle of the storm door.  He hasn't figured out how to get back in though.
