Another thing I hated about my Mazda3 was its stupidly high insurance premium. Despite living in a jurisdiction with some of the nation's lowest (state-regulated !) rates , it cost me about as much as what you guys quoted below, something around 1.200 $US.  >:(

The Golf would have been about a hundred less per annum.

That is pricey. I only pay $1400 CA despite government insurance here.
The Mazda3 is a teen/college car in the US, and very frequently involved in wrecks. Didn't consider insurance cost when choosing the vehicle.

Yes I but would go with the Japanese reliability. If your looking at it from a cost of ownership view. YMMV

My wife just bought a 2017 Civic Coupe EX-T (manual). Her annual premium in Ottawa is $1,182.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Thanks! I dunno. Lost on the Internet somewhere, I guess.

My wife and I just bought two brand-new cars last month, literally within two days of each other. Rare to do that, but it's just how it worked out this time.

My wife dumped her 2006 Nissan X-Trail for a new Civic Coupe, and I traded in my 1999 Miata on a 2017 Mazda6 sedan.

It was her turn to have something "sporty" and my turn to have the "familymobile". Both cars are 6-speed manuals, so at least we still get to enjoy the driving experience. There probably aren't many households with three stick shifts in the driveway any more (including my Cobra).

Both of our new cars are white too. At first I thought it might be odd that we had the same colour rides. But then again, my Miata and her X-Trail were both silver. And back when we were dating, we both drove red cars -- my 1991 Civic hatchback and her 1988 Dodge Daytona -- so it obviously isn't the first time it's happened.

One of my coworkers said, whose Honda Civic had been stolen two weeks ago, this model right now are one of the most popular cars for the thieves.
That's why a lot of car insurance companies right now increased their rates for used and new Honda Civic's.
