I'm working my way home from Fruita Colorado and trying to stay ahead of the storms.

Nice heavy dump of snow this morning. Looks like about 20cm on the yard. More tonight! Not unusual unfortunately.

^^^ That sucks.  I've been on two full-day mountain bike rides already in the past two weeks.   Snow can stay the Eff away.

Yeah, probably 20 cm here as well.

Okay, I’m going to complain. :P I’d have been excited a few weeks ago, but Nakiska is closed now and I don’t feel like spending $100 (minimum) to go to Sunshine for a day. And the biking here has been pretty good recently: been out five times already here (and another dozen in Moab before that.)

And, to top it all off, wife’s new bike is supposed to come today.  ::)

Round 2 tonight and tomorrow.

Yeah, screw this.  :P

Just made reservations for Invermere this weekend. They didn't get as much precip, and the trails there are always quicker to dry out anyway. Forecast is for decent riding weather for the weekend.

Saw 91F here yesterday, feels like mid summer, we're loving it, my FIL who has been visiting this week is struggling with the heat though  :rofl2: Had a nice dry spell too, been a couple weeks since we've had any real rain, but that's suppose to change tomorrow with a few days of unsettled/stormy weather rolling in.

You're in for a real treat in July/August.  Real :censor: hot.

I spent a couple of weeks visiting my brother in New Orleans in June.  It was basically unbearable.  Not just the heat, but the humidity.  Basically everybody down there stays inside during the summer the way we do here in the winter.

A few years later I visited him in February for Mardi-Gras.  MUCH more tolerable that time, borderline cold.  All the locals were bundled up in winter jackets, and my brother and I were just cruising around in light sweaters.

Yeah, I suspect you're right....I was here a couple weeks last July, and then most of September, it was HOT, but I wasn't doing much outdoors at the time so it didn't matter. I like the heat though, I have a pretty high tolerance for it....what gets me more these days is the sun, too much sun and I really start feeling it.

Last of the snow in the yard melted. Six months; long stretch for a la Nina year...

I was about 7 hours away from that Tornado. If I left in the morning instead of the afternoon, I could have been caught up in it. Scary stuff.

Crazy storms through Indiana tonight. Was watching a feed and there were 8 tornado warnings and 3 on the ground. Storms will move through Michigan and Ohio  and probably hit parts of SW also. And this is only the first half of May! What will summer be like?

Sunday night we had some intense thunderstorms roll through around midnight, lots of lighting and monsoon rain. Been unsettled with random smaller thunderstorms since, I am up in Minneapolis today flying back to Memphis tomorrow night....which is when there's another severe storm tracking with a good risk of tornados. So, I am hoping the flight doesn't get too badly delayed and I can get home before the storm gets too bad.

Tornados are something that would scare me living it areas prone to severe outbreaks. As I understand it most houses there are built slab on grade.  Does your house have a shelter of some sort?

Yes, we have a shelter in the garage. Locals are very casual about tornados, so I guess you get used to it.

That is insane how those things work.

Had a friend who moved down to Texas, and she too found the locals very blase about them. They found it remarkable though she didn't worry about driving in minus 40 back in Manitoba.

'Can't you die if you break down on the highway?'

'Well, you CAN, but not usually'

They seemed to feel the same way about tornados. The local she moved in with didn't even have a shelter, and he lived in a trailer at the time.  :D

Got part of the storm last night after midnight and had a lightning strike hit very close and the crack made me jump out of my skin.

Looked at the radar and saw this cell close to Pittsburgh. Yikes.
