Tires for ram
« on: October 02, 2017, 11:34:52 pm »
Might get new tires for my ram..

On my jeeps, the goto tire was BFG AT KOs.   They were also snow rated, so ran them all year round.

Criteria is snow rated and look cool -  any recommendations?

What does a cool looking tire look like?  To me, they all kinda look the same, unless you're talking about big tires with teeth rattling off-road tread.

I mean, if you've had BFG AT KO's before and you were happy with them, there's no reason you can't run them on a Ram.  They're a great truck tire!

I have the General AT2 on the Highlander, also snowflake rated, and they're a good tire.  Had them on some difficult "roads" to access trailheads and they work really well.  They're noisy on pavement - and they seem to get nosier as they wear - but they handle pretty well and are good in the wet.  Some people complain they wear too fast, but mine are wearing like iron.

As for winter performance, I don't use them in the winter.  I've had them in some surprise shoulder-season snow storms, and they're acceptable, but still lacking compared to a true winter tire.  I think this is true for all AT style tires.

I ran the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's on my Jeep Wrangler year round in Ottawa, trouble free.

duratrac's are a good meaty looking tire that won't rattle your teeth out of your head... but yeah, if you like the BFG's, go that route.... the K02's are the ones i've been getting as of late. not too aggressive, but look good with some sidewall tread and a snowflake for a bit more confidence and insurance savings.

you looking at 20's or what rim size?

Thanks.. looks like the BFG still a good all round choice.   Might have a look at the duratracs too.

Wheel size is 20.

You can't go wrong with BFG KO2's or Duratracs.  Duratracs are what the PowerWagon is equipped with from the factory.  KO2's come on the Raptor.

Also, for what it's worth, if you do any heavy hauling, the Duratracs come in a 10-Ply, which would make for a very, very durable tire.

Crap...Just saw this now. I have a set of 275/60/20 Goodyear SR-A tires off a Ram to unload. The SR-As are "ok" (not great) tires IMO, the truck got new rims and tires as part of a project I am working on at work. The rear two tires literally have about 50kms on them, and the front are about 85-90%.
Anyone need them?
