Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

When you consider vacations / snowbird travel, you very quickly see the benefits
of a quiet V6 sedan with extra safety.  My wife and I just went thru' Seattle Homeland Security
--tsa.gov.  Airports can be hell and my wife's two new knees doesn't start things right when you arrive.
She had an extra agressive, badge-proud cadet who put her fingers everywhere to the point my wife was in tears.  After she calmed down she said we are not flying anywhere for a long time (but going to India business class was acceptable this coming Sept. ).
I agreed with her.  I'd rather have a luxury ride, even if a few extra days required, than to put up with security/airplane and airport madness that has become common fare.

You make a very good point, and its a story that's sad to read. Then you get on the plane just when you think you can't take any more, and round two of the aggravation begins.

If it wasn't for changes in latitude, warmth, and/or the various problems/exchange rates with the US, I'd never fly again. Yet we keep doing it, as if we can't stop going for the abuse.

Maybe modern day air travel should have its own off-topic topic. or just add it to The Things....Sad, Angry and Upset.

Yeah, I'd rather drive for days and days on end than fly - the whole thing is painful.  I agree that cars like this Camry make auto travel even better - they're so smooth and comfortable and fuel efficient.

While I get the advantage and fun of effortless acceleration at any speed of a modern V6, I'd rather a hybrid for long distance travel. Maybe it's a sign of cheapness, but getting nearly twice the miles from a tank of gas would surely put a smile on my face.  :)

In fantasy land where EVs fully charge in ten minutes and there are charging stations every 200km.

The Camry hybrid needs no charging station.  It's not an EV.

My mistake I thought he was going on about an EV.

Since he does 99.99999999999% of the time, we'll give you a pass this time...

2018 Camry Hybrid US specs:
http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases/2018+toyota+camry+hybrid+product+info+sheet.download
No heated seats on LE Hybrid, otherwise it's plenty equipped and I'd see no reason to go up to SE or XLE.  The LE even gets radar adaptive cruise, smart key, auto climate!!

The SE makes the least sense to me of all.  It's really just about visuals, so why pay the fuel penalty?  ...unless you really need SoftTex instead of fabric seats.

The LE with aftermarket heated seats is a screaming deal.

I'd probably need a set of alloy wheels to re-mount oem tires on, while using existing steelies for winters.

Talking about lipstick on a PIG!  The battery for the SE and XLE  is unchanged.  Electric power all models is DOWN considerably ???   ICE is up.  Total output is up 8hp, but is that 8 due to the use of premo gas.  ???

Front seat leg room is still poor @ 42.1 inches.  It's just a seat track Toyota.  ::) :P

Tires are a big improvement @ 235/45/18   while the LE remains @ 205/65/16 which is pretty well undriveable.

I'd be baffled if the Canadian LE didn't get heated seats. A lot of Canadian market cars get heated seats in lower trim levels than the Americans do.

The info sheet says regular gas...

The info sheet says regular gas...

87-octane or higher - unleaded

The LE will not get heated seats.  Heated seats are available on the base XLE along with the driver's 6 way power seat with lumbar.

The option packing remains the same as the 2017s right back to the 2012s.  This is how Toyota rolls.  Other than the battery in the LE, suspension changes and the body changes, not a revolutionary leap.  Disappointed in the electric part of the equation.

You're sure about that in Canada? I haven't seen any Canadian specs yet.

Corolla LE and up in Canada gets heated seats while you need an XLE/XSE in the US. Mind you, there is no XLE/XSE trim in Canada.

Heated seats are a staple in Canada, I don't see how Toyota can get away with selling a Camry without them except maybe in a CE trim if they decide to make one.

Actually, I was wrong, and now Steve is very wrong:
Quote
STANDARD INTERIOR FEATURES
LE Hybrid
Fabric-trimmed heated front seats with seatback pockets; 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support; 6-way adjustable front passenger seat

I could have sworn it didn't say heated - but I'm wrong, and I'll admit it.  My bad.

So, a lot of our concerns lifted - heated front seats, and 87 octane gas.  Huzzah!  Camry LE!

Well played!  :)

Up to and including 2017 LE's had no power or heated seat.  Only recourse was the base XLE for not much $$ more.  It was the typical Toyota up sell.

HOWEVER, the jury is not yet spoken.  This is a US spec sheet and I will remind you once again it is a DIFFERENT company.  The Canadian Toyota distributor is not owned or operated by the US Toyota operation so we will see how Toyota Canada decides to market/package the Camry Hybrid models.
