Calling all part salesmen and beyond!
« on: September 19, 2017, 09:56:08 pm »
I'll make this brief.
Im looking for a one piece(preferably) driveshaft.
1994 Pontiac Firebird
3.4 L
Manual Transmission
My mechanic can't find one in Canada, and neither can I, for less than $1000.00+
I'm literally willing to pay a finders fee.

1) Where are you located?  That would be helpful.

2) I have a number of solutions.  You can literally have one made for half of that...or less.  There are plenty of custom driveshaft places that will make one.  A little known secret is transport truck repair places frequently have on site driveshaft making equipment.  You send them both yokes, tell them the finished length..and presto....driveshaft.  It's really quite simple.  A bonus is that they usually use aluminum, so the driveshaft is lighter.  Lighter equals less mass equals more power!  Someplace like this:  http://www.transaxleparts.com/index.php?page=driveshaft-centre  or this  https://patsdriveline.com/ or this http://www.driveshaftrepairs.ca/en/  or this  http://www.ottawa-driveshaft-steering.com/   There are MANY similar places...and you might luck out with a local truck repair place.  I had one built at my local truck repair place:  http://www.401trucksource.com/

2nd: www-car-parts.com  Input year, make, model and select DRIVESHAFT, REAR.  Search Canada only.  There are more than a dozen in Canada...cheapest being $150.

So there you go.

Where are you sending my finders fee?

I have a good spare from an mid 80's Trans Am sitting in my shed. It *might* be the same, I've never checked.

Where are you located? There's literally like 3 or 4 guys in the GTA always parting these cars out, can't be that hard to find.

I bet a driveline shop could make you one for a couple hundred.

Yep.  My aluminum one with anti-resonance spiral cone in it cost me $250.
