On the other hand...I'm still very much enjoying Billions.

Me too - quite a bit of the technical finance jargon is spot on even!!

You can see how crooked/how much room for abuse exists in their system.

Also...Damian Lewis is hard on the eyes.  Also #2, for a guy born in the UK, his American accent is really, really, good.

The X-Files was quite ground breaking when it came out (the first time around) with contained episodes plus and overarching story. But a lot of shows this pattern now.

These new episodes remind me of Fringe. Of course that's probably because Fringe was inspired by the original X-Files.

One thing the series really does hit home is that the game is rigged against regular people.  You're either inside or outside - sure regular folks can earn returns, but the reason that the rich get richer and no one else makes real ground is that the wealthy don't play by the same rules.

Is the stock market still about providing capital to firms that are creating the means of production and growth?  Maybe, but that's now far from the only reason the markets exist.  Now they also exist as a means of wealth transfer and literal gambling - often with other people's money.

Yup.

I was like WTF when Axe's therapist gets into the pool naked with him.  Is that something therapists normally do?   :rofl2:  Seems like the boundaries she's always talking about got crossed.

That was pretty goofy - and not in continuity with the story, frankly.  But, Maggie's got an amazing rear-view, so what the heck...

I suspect that it was to ensure she wasn't wearing a wire. As a bonus, his henchman could take pictures/video in case he wanted to imply that they were having an affair.

It's an entertaining show but I feel like there's a stupid scene quota that is being filled with each episode. The speech about Pearl Harbor was just dumb and over-the-top, much like the whole "ass to mouth" conversation a couple of weeks ago.

We realize this.  But it's just sooo over the top of what a therapist would do...especially given the stuff she preaches all the time.

Came across the show "The Leftovers" online.  Anybody watch it?  Noticed low viewership ratings, but it looks like a quality show based on several reviews, and the trailer I saw.  I suspect the lower ratings are due to the odd premise.
