Can't knock that choice.  Sweet ride. Loved Thomas holding up the signs.

Yup.  Says a lot given how many cars these two get to flog!

A couple of things, first is good for him for getting an ICE vehicle and a hatchback even.  I would like to think he didn’t get the manual due to a lot of traffic and just wanting a car to jump in and not think.  I hope he didn’t get the automatic because of launch control because that is a novelty in my book.

Certainly not a bad choice, personally I would have got a Civic Type R or Integra Type S.

I still need to get seat time in one, but seems like the DSG is perfectly fine for a DD in the R. Yes, a manual might be nice for some, but for ease of use, especially in congested regions, the DSG is likely the better choice.

And it does have more power I believe.

I'd count myself pretty lucky to have either a Civic Type R or a Golf R in the garage.

Same amount of power, but I think it’s similar to my MK7 Golf R where the manual limits the torque in first and second gear a bit to protect the clutch.

I have only seen dynos of the DSG which has shown as much as 340 hp at the crank.  The torque is reportedly lower with the manual according to VW so you may be right.

I still hold fast that the Type S should have come with AWD. ;D

Exactly. They are both good choices and we should be happy that they are still being made for the time being.

I loved my little 2016 Lapiz Blue Golf R, I'm sure he will too.
