"Before you accuse us of getting carried away..."

I accuse them of getting carried away.
That's nothing, you should read the review they gave for the new VW Golf R, they basically said it is a Porsche 718 with a back seat and a hatch.
That would be a Macan...
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I had the pleasure of driving a 718 briefly and I suggest that they are full of SH!T.

When/where did you get to drive the new Golf R?

Our test car came with the R-Performance package, which will be standard on U.S. cars. The pack's Special mode readies the R to tackle the Nürburgring by sharpening the throttle, livening up the transmission, and dialing in the 15-position electronically controlled dampers. This mode is also perfect for terrorizing your local twisties, where the driving experience can best be described as that of a Porsche 718 Cayman with a back seat.

Best sports sedan ever built??? Impressive machine, I'll take the CT5-V please.
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a37264063/2022-cadillac-ct5-v-blackwing-drive/
From what I have read the CT4-V Blackwing is the track weapon and the CT5-V Blackwing is the super sedan.  Much like the M3 is a better track day car th a the M5.  But being priced at $88k CAD and offering a manual, it's awfully tempting.  Also even though it has something like 170 more HP th a the CT4 it's only like 0.2 seconds quicker to 60.  There is just so much grip that you can get from a RWD vehicle.

Was that CAD price point confirmed somewhere?   For the CT5-V Blackwing?  I thought US price was mid-80s?

As usual not a huge fan of the caddy styling or interior, but man....  everything else is ideal.   Roomy sedan, monster V8, manual, RWD, excellent chassis [but reads like it's tuned for some level of day to day comfort in the big CT5].

Honestly about the price, I just googled "CT5-V Blackwing Price Canada" and it states it's just shy of $88K CAD.  Not sure where that is confirmed but just comparing the prices between the US and Canada for the CT4-V Blackwing, in the US it's $59,000 and in Canada it's $65,000, so it's possible it could be right.

The back end of the CT5 is better in my opinion than the CT4 too.

$88k is correct: https://carcostcanada.com/Canada/Prices/2022-Cadillac-CT5-V/34209

Whoa...that's within spitting distance of the M3.
I would take a CT5-V Blackwing over an M3 any day.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I had a seat in the new M3 (did not drive).  I hope I am wrong but the M3 interior, seats, etc seem to be several steps up from Cadillac.  It will also be available with AWD in 2022.  Not sure on driving dynamics, of course.
AWD is not a selling point for me. And the interior takes a back seat to style, sound and drivetrain. The M3 cannot complete at all in those categories. Priorities differ.

In all fairness, the CT5 actually competes with the M5 which is a lot more expensive.  The M3 competes with the CT4-V, although again - more expensive.  In terms of performance between those two, I would go for the M3.
I might too, because GM cannot make a V6 sound good. And yes it is an unfair comparison between the M3 or the CT5-V, but I was merely responding to an above post.

The Caddies will both have "American level luxury finishes" but not compete with Germans and likely not quite as nice as Lexus either.  But you get a lot more car for your money.  Some view AWD as a positive and in winter I would agree, but during the nice months I think I'd prefer RWD.

Just for the record, even though us and everyone who reviews the CT4-V Blackwing view it as an M3 competitor, Cadillac says they are competing with the RS3 and AMG A class.  Which it is a bit closer in price to those.  RS3 is pretty muck exactly the same.  The reality is the CT4-V Blackwing has similar performance as the M3 but at the price of M340.

I believe the CT4 is sized closer to the A3 than to the A4 so that makes sense. And the CT5 is a tweeter between the 3 and 5 series IIRC.

Right on both fronts.  The BMW, Audi, and Merc are all bigger.  I think the CT4 is likely closer to the IS500 as far as size.

A couple of reviews so far say it sounds great...much better than the ATS-V...

I'd pick the V over an M car - one will last a long time, one's FGC...how is that a bad choice?  Reviews so far says it FEELS better than a MW too...  ???

Car and Driver tested the ATS V against what they believe was its direct competition.  Caddy is comparing its successor based on price only which is valid to some degree because it will outperform the RS3.  However, it really should be compared to the RWD competition.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a15096108/alfa-romeo-giulia-quadrifoglio-vs-bmw-m3-cadillac-ats-v-mercedes-amg-c63-s-comparison-test/
Yeah I was just stating what the Caddy people said they targeted.  In reality we all put it up against the M3, even though it's like $19k cheaper.  In fact the CT5-V Blackwing is closer in price but a lot more power.  I don't even consider the Alfa because no manual.

There are a few reasons why I would go Caddy over BMW, one is price and I'm cheap, two is no one knows what it is and can be specced like a sleeper, third is the closest dealer is 2 hours away for BMW and there is a Caddy dealer here in town, and lastly is the warranty is better plus service is paid for first 4 years.

I don't know if it will be faster on a track to the base M3 but it should be close, not that I race or track anyway.

Judging by how much CTS-Vs are going for right now, I don't think this car will depreciate much.
