Only a stiff suspension takes away from the BMW 650i's status as a fantastic grand tourer.

Should be noted that the RWD 650i convertible is no longer available for 2013. In the US you can get all three bodystyles in 650i trim with RWD, and they also offer a RWD 640i model there.

Saw one.. the wide LED tailights looked really good at night.

$30,000 in options alone caught me off-guard.. that's enough for a nice midsize sedan!!

While Im sure this vehicle would be a fantastic grand touring machine, the looks do absolutely nothing for me. Plus the fact its all soft and squishy isnt that appealing......of course Im not exactly in the market for one of these......

 :iagree:

The 650's curvy, soft edges aren't for me. we'll stick with the SL 550, won't we fobroader? or a nice, comfortable, and refined GT-R... okay, GT-R is none of those things, but for the same money, it's so much more interesting, and performance of the charts...

A GT-R would definetly be my first choice before any car around $100K.....but there is something to be said for the growl of an AMG  ;D

Here we go again with the silly video game GT-R.  ;D  Criticizing the SL or 650 for not being a sports car is like criticizing a fish for not being a bird.

Whoa - that's plenty quick acceleration for such a heavy vehicle. I wonder how it does on the twisties and even the track, compared to let's say a Mustang GT or Camaro SS?

The SL I dont mind, and Im sorry, its got 2 seats and 400+horses, thats gotta be a little sporty at least.

I think the GT or SS would make short work of it on a track.

Know anyone cross-shopping a Mustang GT with a 6-series?  ::)

The question wasn't posed for cross-shopping  :P but if I'm shelling out that much cash and it accerlates that fast and has such a tight suspension I'd be curious as to how it stacks up against cheaper performance oriented cars is all.

Why on earth would you want to drive a 6 series on a track ?
But I'm pretty sure a 6 series would make mince meat of a Mustang or Camaro on twisty roads in the Alps.
Or rather, the drivers would make mince meat of themselves hitting a wall while trying to catch up with the BMW.
Well, maybe not but you started being silly.

A 6 series is a fast car by any standard but not intended for racing. BMW already made the M3 for that and I've heard it's pretty good at it. It would be weird if BMW tried to out compete all of their own cars. That's a race they're going to lose either way you look at it. :)

Fair enough, good point.  :)
