Same here or a Yukon XL.  I probably wouldn't opt for the 6.2, but rather the 5.3.  IIRC, the 6.2 is only available in the Denali trim anyways, at which point you are stuck with a permanent AWD setup versus the 4WD in lower trims.  With the selectable 4WD, I could run it in 2WD, 4WD or 4WD auto.  Most of the time, that dial would be in 2WD anyways.

The older 2014 Denali trim was AWD the new K2XX 2015 Denali is a 4WD system with 6.2L V8 and 8 speed automatic.

For more or less the same price, I would go with a Lexus LX570 or Mercedes GL450.

It's a free country, so feel free exercising your right to make bad choices.

The Lexus is a great choice.....the Mercedes....only as a lease....and even then....no.
Yes, but Mers is so much better in many ways. Looks better, drives better, has Diesel.

Looks, thats subjective, drives, probably, diesel, not hauling or.pulling with it, not a plus. Sorry, the Escalade and LX570 would be my choice over the Merc.

With the means to do so, and only keeping during warranty, I'd definitely go GL.  But longer term or used purchase: LX vs Escalade.

Truthfully though, the only rationale I could ever see for my family purchasing such a big beast would be a huge army of kids.   And filling a luxurious beast with those little rascals (not to mention my messy wife  :-*) just sounds crazy.  So really, make mine a used Yukon XL and I'll spend the savings on an actual fun car.

I agree, to me a well equipped Suburban, especially a 2500, makes a lot more sense than this thing......BUT.....I can see the case made for it. Someone wants a luxo SUV to haul around their offspring, why not?? If you can swing it, do it.

Turns out people were waiting for the new Escalade. I had no idea.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Not for the 14,349 people who have bought one so far this year.
Since October 2015 the Junior PM has been in office.  Record mega-Billion deficits as he p*sses away our future.  An economy gutted. Stinky POTHEADS rejoice. We are going down the drain.
