EV financial incentives need to be pushing makers into offering affordable models.  Make them sliding in an inverse relationship with MSRP.  The more expensive the EV, the lower the rebate/tax-cut/whatever.

If you could have your $14K rebate on a $25K Corolla EV, think it would sell?
Right now it feels like if you could have a $14k rebate on a Corolla EV, Toyota would sell it for $39k

Well there’s an issue with rebates. Are they an incentive to buy and really increasing market penetration of EVs or are they a cash grab for manufacturers?

Problem is, only Ontario has the massive rebate, then BC has a sort of rebate.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

Model III production appears to be more or less stalled.

With just a month to go, it looks like Tesla is going to wildly miss their revised Q1 2,500/week targets for Model III AGAIN!

Also....I'm calling it now,  New record losses for Q1...somehow being larger than the previous ~$700 million loss.

What is it exactly that Tesla considers the "premium interior" to be premium?  Any of the pics I've seen certainly seem to lean towards the low rent category and far from premium.   ???

Tesla seems clueless about premium interiors, period.  I'm still a "Go Tesla" guy - cheering them on, hoping EVs make the leap they need to, but paying nearly $200K for an SUV with this interior?  Nope.

I was sour about the 911 interior.  WHich is why I had to have the complete leather interior.  Otherwise it was awful-ish. (IMO)

But yea, Tesla interiors are not good for money paid.

Which is why I don't think they belong in the premium luxury category....

Oh..and let's not forget...to my knowledge, Tesla has not even shown a BASE Model III interior yet.  So if the premium looks like that...what does the base look like?   :o

I wouldn't be happy with that interior at $50k let alone $200k.  I'll take the Kona EV interior any day over this.

according to Goodcarbadcar sales statistics, Tesla sold an estimated 6000 units for the month of February - that's all models.

I test drove a Model S in a comparo. We had to rent one - no press cars for Canada. The interior - materials, fit & finish, was Chrysler 300 / Dodge Charger grade. The performance and ride/handling compromise is impressive, but these cars can't be compared with 7-Series and S-Class Benzes, except in price. And the Model X looks goofy on top of things, like an inflated cartoon Model S.

I find it hard to believe that this free-standing computer screen is passing crash tests, as positioned / sized...

The Model S is at least passably good looking, the X is hideous inside and out.  The 3 looks plain, but okay on the outside.

The lack of non-iPad controls is stupid.  Drivers are already more than distracted enough.  Having to perform routine tasks on the touch screen should be outlawed.  The government will mandate all kinds of safety devices but not access to oft-used controls?  Things the government needs to get on:

1. No more illuminated dashes unless the car is equipped with non-defeatable auto headlights.
2. HVAC, audio and other basic controls should be accessed with clearly labeled switches that can be operated quickly with minimal time taken from actual driving.
3. Computer intervention driving systems are for emergencies, the self-driving car is not here yet.  There needs to be clear rules about this, and a certification and testing regiment needs to be enacted.

completely agree
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.
