Anyone able to give me some advice on tire pressure for a hybrid (giant excape 2). The range is 40-65 psi, mostly used on pavement.   I take it there isn't any magic formula, just set it to 50 and try it out raise lower as needed?  I'm assuming a heavier person would need to set it higher then a lighter person?

Sounds like you have a good approach, that is what I would do. Play around until you get the right feel and handling. Too much pressure on loose dirt or gravel is not good IMO.

^^^ Great looking loop and yes the winds were MUCH better today. Sorry I missed you but glad you were out riding. Took a chance that you were around, maybe next time.

I rode out with my buddy to Oakville, nice tempo ride while enjoying the nicer weather. When we got to the coffee stop we ran into three of his friends (one I've ridden with before) and hooked up with them for the faster ride back. Along the way picked up another guy who was happy to meet us. As we were swapping positions I was looking around and noticed that I had the 'cheapest' bike.  :o

Ended up with another Cdn century today so I'm very happy about that after 2 days of nothing.

First big crash of the season today! The trails were muddy but FAST, and I was absolutely flying the whole morning. Everything just seemed to click and the bike felt super dialled in.

Just before we got back to the trail head I misjudged the radius of a blind, steep downhill corner that pitched off into a small ravine. I was leading the group and wasn't able to stop in time or get the front tire to turn in. Ended up tumbling over the edge of the trail and then over the handle bars, landing on a few rocks and small trees in the process.

Still, nothing broken, just cuts and bruises. Bike was A-ok. Not a bad outcome considering. Hell of a good ride anyway!

For me, yeah, that's high.  That section of trail has some deep/soft patches and to keep the speed up means furious pedaling.

First big crash of the season today!

Whew, glad you're okay.  I've had two dramatic get-offs this year, and now I'm a little gun shy.

Yikes.... glad you and bike are okay. Crashed twice last year, not fun.

good to hear nothing serious happened... sounds like with that kind of landing it could have been much worse.

this was an off year for racing.  but still decided to do races that we like.
(just 3 races this year)

this weekend is one of our really fun American races.
free food and beer with cash prizes and an awesome course!!!!!  can't ask for more.

Early this season I haven't been doing much riding but I've increased it quite a bit lately.
while it's good, sadly, much of it is from riding to work.

while I don't really take this stuff very seriously, I'm still a little anxious on this one.
it's true that I'm don't take it seriously... we're beer leaguers.  So yes I'll be carbing up the night before  ;)

But my competitive streak is taking this one a little more serious than usually... I've got a title to defend.
Last year I took first in my age group and was second the year prior.   ;D
I like to try and win and score some beer money!!! (bring good inventory home)

so the past two weekends I road in our north Niagara trails to get some climbing practice.
(not much of that this year)

I road to work yesterday and today.  Tonight on my way home I'll add some miles in.
My legs lately feel really good and strong.   Looks like it'll be a rain out for tomorrow's club ride (and rain for Thursday)   So when I get home I'll be washing the mountain bike, getting it ready to race and basically taking Wed and Thursday off to let the legs rest.

Friday we leave for the US (camping all weekend) and once setup, I'll likely go for a light ride.
Saturday morning we'll be racing.........  so far... it looks like it'll be in the rain   :(

They have a new course this year and we haven't riden the area at all this year, so I have no idea what to expect.   Last year's course was 2 laps for a total of 24km and 303m of climbing.
average speed being 15.3km/h

I'm hoping to win it again!
 ;D

Think Strava is broken again as it won't upload today's ride. Why does this happen when I really want to see it :(

Did a 100 MILE ride with over 4,000 FEET of climbing today....Need to see my results!

Finally working again.  I think Strava like to push my buttons.

I'm more than happy with my results considering how much city riding was in this.

I'm in the market for a new helmet, my current one is probably 15 years old and doesn't fit well. I'd like to get one that has good air ventilation.  I know they all have to pass crash test ratings, anyone have an suggestions?

I haven't had one, but hear lots of great things about Giro helmets.
