1997 Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6
« on: April 07, 2018, 06:14:54 pm »
Thought I would start a thread, since I have big plans for Francesca this summer...detailing, modifications, many meets/drives all over Ont/QC/NY.

First: guess who was awoken from their slumber today? She was a little grumpy, but after she warmed up was purring very nicely. Took all my will not to open her up and floor it...

This week:
detailing
Rotate tires
engine work including camshafts and valves
« Last Edit: April 07, 2018, 06:21:36 pm by ChaosphereIX »
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Yes, the entire car plus a motor shot would be interesting.  Exterior and interior colour looks great.

Canshafts and valves? Is something wrong or is this an Alfa maintenance item?

yes lots of pics once I get her all shiny, I promise! Engine bay glamour shots are no problem, have to show off the chromed intakes!

the higher lift camshafts are an upgrade I am doing"while I am in there." This is because the timing belt, waterpump, and tensioners are due for replacement [last done over 5 years ago] so I figured I would do them all at once. With the replacement of the camshafts, the exhaust tappets need adjusting, and the intake ones re-shimmed [no manual adjustment].

After that, with some fresh oil, she goes to TO for a proper rolling-road tune to get the right fuelling, air, etc. for my mods. Until then, the tuned ECU she already has can handle it, just not perfectly.

Hope that explains things...as far as I understand them.

took Francesca for her oil change [Castrol Edge 5w50 US formula with high ZDDP] and E-Test. Engine seems a little less tappety compared to the Royal Purple, this is good.

Now for the timing belt, cams, valve work, etc. along with the replacement of my cat with a higher flow one [only part of the exhaust that is original]

I promise more pics and videos will be posted when I can.

work is taking an extra week, because the tech forgot the differences between a 12v and a 24v Busso V6...

not happy, and it isn't the car's fault it will be at the garage for 2 weeks now instead of just a few days  :banghead:

not going back there for any further service ever again

That blows.  :(
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

it does indeed, and as a current customer and one who has voiced intention of being a return customer for another vehicle, I am not feeling the love whatsoever

I should have known though, at the garage the tech was starting to make excuses that they had some RHD CRVs and RAV4s etc. that needed work and they had to "squeeze my car in." I was not impressed.

For my next Italian import, I will probably be going through a different company.

That does not inspire confidence!  :o
