Sounds like you got a "quick and dirty" repair. Your insurance is supposed to return the car to it's pre accident condition. I'd make it clear I wouldn't be accepting anything less. Did you sign over an insurance cheque or sign anything accepting the car when you picked it up?

Be as picky as you like. I refused the repair on my 911 twice because it wasn't absolutely perfect.

Don't feel bad about it...this is your car!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I would go over it with a fine tooth comb and return it till its done to my satisfaction....as many tries as that took.

Yep! I even contacted my insurer to tell them what was going on.

I would have no qualms about it either with the amount of insurance I've paid and not used over the years.

I thought they would fit new doors but I get the feeling they only replaced the exterior shell, if that's even possible.

Not possible on that vehicle.  What does the repair sheet say  ???

There is one long paint drop on the edge of one panel and another panel has a tiny, hard object beneath the new paint.

Too bad for them.

Here's the thing  :P, Ins. Co's direct business to shops that are willing to work at a discount.  That reflects in the final product.  Collision shops know that only 1 out of 10 ppl will put up a real stink so they proceed accordingly.

NEVER take your vehicle to a collision repair shop that is recommend by your insurance company under the guise that all work is guaranteed.   :rofl2:     Such as Carstar.  What a joke those places are; independent collision shops that other wise would be out of business.

Now being in a large city makes for some real difficulty sorting thru the the BS, but the entire "collision repair" business is murder for the inexperienced consumer.

They could careless, particularly if it one of their "preferred" shops.  :rofl2:

Be picky.  Your insurance company paid for the work to be done properly, and it should be.

It wasn't a preferred shop. Place I picked that repairs exotics. Probably the finest body shop in town. But even they make (little) mistakes.

After everything was said and done, repair was impeccable.

Just a general comment.  95% of accident victims go to the "preferred" shops because they believe insurance companies are there for them other than just simple being a product.

Be picky as f*ck! I didn't accept my Volvo the first TWO time they said it was fixed. And the 3rd time I took it but only with the stipulation that it go back for deficiencies still & they'd give me a service loaner.
