Had to work REAL HARD to get 750k in this month  :P fack.

If you think that was hard just wait and see what you get this month.

Matthias Brandle breaks world hour record
http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/cycling/news/brandle-breaks-world-hour-record_185539.html

Quote
Matthias Brandle has become the new holder of the world hour record, just 42 days after it had been broken by Jens Voigt.

The German, who has now retired from the sport, easily beat the previous mark by nearly kilometres but at a velodrome in Switzerland, Brandle has eclipsed his effort by 0.74 kilometres.

The 43-year-old is quoted as saying: "Now I feel really great, but during the race it was so hard.

"I knew after 30 minutes that I was going to succeed. The first minutes were easy and then I wanted to go a lot faster. Halfway through, things became more complicated and I started to feel pain."

Sir Bradley Wiggins has previously revealed that he will train during the winter in preparation for an attempt to set a new time sometime in 2015.

I wouldn't say 0.74kms was easily beating it. Still job well done, it isn't easy. Wonder what Wiggins will beat it next year?

OK, I bought a bike, I'm on Strava, I'm ready to get fit again.

Need a little bit of Winter gear, mainly gonna ride on trails, the streets are too dangerous.

I last had an MTB years ago in the UK, it was very light and fast, already thinking about upgrades to this one.  I love the frame, and the forks, everything else works very well, and Gears down the road gave me a very good price.  I have the clipless pedals ready to go on, just need to find the shoes I want first.

Nice!

I've probably done more mountain biking in the last week than I've done in the last five years. Feels really good to get back into it. Have fun!

Probably my last big bike will be this week as I use it for part of my trip into Robson Park. One last blast down that awesome trail for the year.

Awesome TB, an MTB partner a stones throw away. When we ridding? If you think the streets are bad, try riding the highways  :rofl2:

Yay!  That means you can come ride with me on rail trails, on those days that you feel like doing distance rather than muddy hills.   ;D  Do check out the new MTB trails at Christie Lake.  Very scenic, not overly difficult.  Some of the walking paths have some pretty steep hills, for some extra challenges.

last I heard they had about 10k of trails, have they expanded it much?
I remember seeing the overall plans but progress is slow on building the network.

I'm not sure - haven't been there since last year, but I do remember some of the tougher tracks looking like they were coming along (my friends tested them out, while I waited).  We were with some hard-core MTB guys, who still enjoyed the track for the scenery/location, and lack of pedestrians.

Where else have you been, other than puny Lions Valley Park?   ::)  Oh, right... I forgot!  You don't even own a bike rack.   :rofl2:

There's a bunch of snow on the ground so I had to settle for a spin class today...

My first time going to one, and I was pleasantly surprised... it was a pretty good way to get your blood pumping and the spin machines they had were really solidly built.

But still very impressive   Can't wait to see how far you ride next year. Are you going for 10,000 kms?

yeah, I do hill repeats as well  :)

Oh not, not just hill repeats. I have an awesome 10k training loop that has a mix of everything. I recently took a buddy who just finished top 10 in the National CX and even he said how great and challenging of a loop it is. Also has some tough segments on it.

do it!

I go year round.   there's always this lull between early rain/snow crap and until the ground freezes.
(at least for mountain biking)

Winter biking is so much fun!   The trick is always what to wear... not too much or you get too hot, or too little or you're cold and uncomfortable.   Snow adds a great challenge and fun times!
