http://www.motortrend.com/news/a-closer-look-at-the-2017-tesla-model-s-p100d-ludicrous-acceleration-run/

Quote
Zero-to-60 testing got a lot more interesting when Tesla’s Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode managed to accelerate harder than it could brake. That’s right. While the motors are pulling their hardest—from 10 mph to 50 mph—the car averages 1.14 g of acceleration. From 50 to 10 mph, the antilock system only musters 1.11 g of average deceleration. We were so intrigued by this car’s performance at such around-town speeds that we decided to really dig into the inner workings and find out what’s going on as this car rockets down a drag strip  <snip>

Its a $150k+ car with a shoddy build quality that goes 0-60 really quickly.....for a short period of time....and then you have to wait for 8-10 hours to do it again.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yeah, and for that kind of money, maybe it's ego, but I wouldn't want to spend it on a car that looks like a Buick. I like sleepers but still, it's a bit TOO bland.

For a sedan, I could think of many others that would be way ahead of this thing. Hell, buy two Hellcat Chargers, one a DD and one a full out race car  ;D

Interesting thing about Tesla's.
At 140 km/h the energy usage is around 20kW of power on flat, 40 kW uphill, 5 kW downhill.
On a 200 km run at 150 km/h average speed, the Tesla S uses 66% of the battery capacity.
That would be about $6.50 in electricity if charging overnight, or $9 with free/included supercharging.
In similar conditions a Mercedes SUV would use $40 in fuel.

The savings for left lane drivers in such an aerodynamic electric car is significant if you are in a hurry...

Try between Toronto and Montreal - in some places it's probably even higher. Well, at least it used to be. Maybe even up the 400 and down the QEW in spots.

Not in my area,  too many speedtraps and cops with quotas.  I drive 120kph and pass most others, I just got home from driving the 401

I travel on the 407 fairly often and at 135km/h (one lane over from the left)  I am being passed often.  Especially between the 427 and Leslie.   That seems to be where the fast cars hang out...I am not kidding... the price of the left lane bandit cars is higher around there than anywhere else.

The Tesla big screen browser has the ability to show WAZE directly on screen with traffic, wind speed/direction and other relevant information (speed traps one example):
https://tesla-waze.excelsis.com/

We leave this on the browser on the bottom half of the screen.

But Waze only works for speedtraps if people who are using Waze point the speed trap out.  I've seen many speed traps not shown in Waze.

It's not foolproof, that's for sure.

Want to know where the speed traps are in Edmonton?  EVERYWHERE.  Literally.  I counted five on my drive home from the gym today.  I rarely see less than two on that drive and have seen up to six.

If any of you ever leave the GTA you will find that speeds are only higher within the GTA, as soon as you get to Toronto on the 401 everyone gets in the left lane and tries to go faster, leaving the right lanes empty.  If you don't mind passing on the right, it's the better way to go.
It's backwards land.
