Not really shocking. I know the article said they didn't consult with any F1 teams, but it's widely known that those teams do not want another team to split up that big pie of money. I can understand the thinking of not allowing them to join the grid a year before a big change to rules, but why not just state that it would be revisited in a years time to see if they could put forth a plan to compete in 2026?
More teams in F1 is a good thing in my mind, if you are worried about the money, just add a race or two to the schedule and increase the cap.
I think this is a missed opportunity. I wonder if maybe the turmoil with HAAS might have something to do with it, in that maybe they'd rather Andretti buy the HAAS team to join the grid rather than add.
You know darn well if this was Porsche/Audi/VAG group that was putting forth this bid they'd likely have approved it. Ditto Toyota or Honda.
This just screams NIMBY mentality, in that they feel like it'd be a NASCAR hillbilly level of company and not "worthy" of the status of F1. Which as we both know is BS.
