My wife’s MX30 4 weeks ago on a Saturday started making strange noise during charging. We contacted service advisor who told us to bring the car to them in 5 days as they don’t have loaners, we explained that being EV my wife would not be able to drive it. Immediately called the Manager of the dealership and that evening he had a brand new (5km on odo) cx5. The issue is the water pump and they don’t have an ETA on a new part.

Before anyone says anything, yes EV’s have water pumps for the liquid cooling of the battery.

Glad to hear the manager make things right.

Yes it is a lease.
Not sure why Yikes? Have you driven one? It’s a perfect city car.
There are quite a few around here. For what we use it it’s absolutely perfect. We use the MX30 in the weekends as infrastructure here in the lower mainland is very good. For my wife’s commute it has enough range.
We have my CX5 for longer trips.

I always get a free loaner for warranty work or major service items, and when the dealer doesn't have one, they supply a rental car. Audi, VW, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Mazda. Never had a need with the Subaru so far.

The 1.6 litre that used to be available in base-model Souls (Accent/Rio engine) is more reliable than the 2.0.

Yeah but you are a BSD of the auto world?

I had issues fixed under warranty in the past and each time the dealer (Hyundai, Subaru) provided a loaner.

Pre or post supply shortage?

Dealer got the engine, we’re third in line for new engines (!!!). Should be good to go Dec 27.

That totally blows - but I kinda doubt most manufacturers include loaner replacement as part of their standard warranty.

My last 4 cars (Nissan, Cadillac, MB and BMW) always offered loaners if asked..... Nissan and Cadillac only if in overnight. BMW always gave me a car to run errands or go to lunch while waiting in Moncton until pandemic. Post pandemic they have gone to taxi vouchers for service visits and a little shitbox rental (Hyundai Venue  ::)) for overnight visits for warranty.....Used to be loaner X3's or X1's :(

So, I'm confused. Did the car come back with a new engine that already has scuffed pistons or did they replace the camshaft and phaser and it will still need a new engine in the future?  ???

Based on that invoice it looks like the latter.  Maybe they will try to source a “new” engine for a later swap.

Looks like the writing in all-caps is from the original work order. New engine came in, they installed it and updated the work order with the lower-case entry at the end. He now has the car back with a new engine and it’s good to go.

At least, that’s the way I see it.

Looking at it again I think you are right. Also , in the parts list there is an "Engine Assy- sub"

OTOH   Why did dkaz say "check the note though...yikes! if he has a new engine?

“Yikes” at the condition of the old engine? (Scuffing on two cylinders)

I think this is the first time he’s seen the full work order.

Yikes because his old engine was facked and he needed a new one.

That's enough to make anyone say "yikes"!  LOL [emoji38]
