real world mileage
« on: December 05, 2017, 08:37:19 am »
This the question I have for the forum. I was hoping to get real driving fuel economy for the average commute in the GTA or say 60kms. Highway and city combine for cars like the Kia Optima, sonata, civic, Jetta Mazda 6 or 3and maybe hybrids.  I have been looking the mileage posted and know its different than real world.  I was wanting to compare the Mazda 6 to say the optima or accord for fuel economy. For cars that that new to say 5 years old.

thanks

^^ that, and your driving habits.

Also depends on model years.  My Mazda3 (2010) gets ~7-8L/100km combined.  If I hypermill, I can get into the low 7s, if I drive like I don't care, it's in the high 8s.  Pure city will be in the 9s.  The "skyactiv" (2012 and later) models will do better.

There are too many variables to answer your question specifically.

With the 2015 Mazda6 manual.

100% city, I get around 9L/100km
100% highway (cruise set at 105km/h) I get around 6.3L/100km
50/50 I get around 7.5L

In the winter it's about 0.5L worse.
