Daughter's Guitar Teachers new Truck
« on: October 21, 2017, 10:52:53 am »
My Daughters Guitar Teacher unloaded his 2003 Civic with about 500000 Km on it for a new GMC Canyon pickup. Nice little vehicle for him to lug around all his Guitar and band gear.  It has a 2.5 liter 4 and 6 spd manual!

that's about as base it gets....likely the "starting at xxxxx" truck...looks nice, but looks like a really base fleet truck...great if it works for him, but i can't imagine that's a popular combination that will be in demand when it comes time to sell it.

Judging by the fact that the previous vehicle was a Civic with 500K, I don't think this guy cares about resale.  He wants simple and durable and when it has 500K on it, it's worthless even if it was a loaded truck.

He is going to haul  his guitars and band gear in the back of an open truck box? He better get a cap asap. Either way IMO a poor choice to haul gear. He should have bought some sort of van.

A Prius V would've fit in twice the cargo of the Civic. It seems to me the guy came across a price ad, brought it to the dealer and said "that's the deal I want".  :-\

He's 22 man, a pick up is way cooler than a  van. Lots of time to get settled, married and a couple for kids before he needs a van.
He just got the truck and yes, he's getting a cap for the back to protect his gear.

That truck is a keeper. I see all sort of internet guys fawning over old simple trucks with a manual bemoaning that they can’t get these anymore. Well here it is!

It’s the equivalent of your brown manual diesel wagon that everyone wants but don’t buy. :)
I love it when a plan comes together.

I think we are talking about different kinds of vans. Two seats and lots of gear!  I owned a couple vans in my early twenties. IMO a van has way more cred than a Colorado.. ;D

Yes, vans are more practical. Lots of time to be practical like dear old Dad. Trucks are way cooler.

Typical poser truck.  ;)   Driving their choppers to the show in the back of a truck. lol. I can see a kid wanting a Colorado.   One day he will figure it out and lust for a two seat work van.

I hope one day he won't have to figure it out and his playing guitar in a band gets him to stardom and he can buy whatever the fack he wants!

PS. I should add that he's teaching my Daughter currently how to play "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Stairway to Heaven"! :-)

Great choice! A truck is way cooler than a van and van delivered similar levels of practicality.

Love that it is a manual too, if it was me I’d have picked a different colour but that’s about it.

who knows...maybe he bought the civic 3 years ago with 400k kms on it...even aside from the resale "value", i'm just talking about the number of potential buyers period...a lot of people will see the ad and notice "2.5L 4 cyl, manual transmission" and skip it altogether...we've had this discussion before, that truck is a bit of unicorn.

Yeah I had a hell of a time selling my Dodge Dakota 4x4 with minimal options except for the HD package , 318 V8 and 5 speed manual. Don't underestimate the public's aversion to the standard truck.

That truck is only $24K with PDI.  That's some cheap new vehicle truckness.

back in the late 80s, those were about $10-$12k...back in the days, Rangers and S10s were quite popular, but partly because they were dirt cheap (in low trims).

In '87, I bought a full size Chevy 1500 reg cab, v6 , 8 ft, box , no AC, no radio for just over $10 , put over 350,000 on the truck
Never wil I get a vehicle with out AC again

Why is this in "Buying, Selling and Leasing?"   ???
