I realize I'm not an expert "powerful" car driver,
but here's my opinion nonetheless,
after 4 months of ownership, I love this engine even more than when I first test drove it.
It's very, very smooth. Very linear power delivery.
Nice, solid "omph" from the get-go except when I'm on the highway, in 5th, where I find it needs to be downshifted into 4th gear to pass with power. (mine's an automatic, so only 5 gears) But you don't need to rev it up high until it "screams" or shift constantly. I gather Honda engines used to be like that, but for the TSX, that's an exaggeration.
The quality of the finish is very high, but the "fitment" is not quite as good as the Lexus, which I consider the best.
It is much less the luxury features than the great feeling when you steer that vehicle and you feel it "carves" up the road with great precision, a feeling of stability, and an amazing "lightness"/"nimbless". This is what I think makes it's $35,000-37,000 price tag worth it.
In conclusion:
- IMO, this car is definitely worth its price. And its main attribute is the great satisfaction you get because of the "driving feel".
- It's whole package will not appeal to everyone. But no need to say it can't come close to a base 3-series because it's a 4-cylinder, FWD car. That's untrue and simply stereotyping.
- by the way, I
the handling of the 325i I drove. A 328i/335i coupe/cab is on my list to consider for later. The TSX is a greatly satisfying car to drive in its own right.
