Is the Vibe gone? If not, any chance you could measure the LxW of the trunk and seats down of both? I always thought the Vibe had a large space for the size of the car.

I was curious about that too

The vehicles themselves are very close to the same size in height/length/width. The Crosstrek has more of a an upright grill, but the greenhouse of the Vibe is more upright.

Beltline is basically identical, which would be why the Crosstrek feels so airy for a modern car

Interior cargo room is also pretty similar

Seats up

Vibe 33 inches deep X 42 wide (between wheel wells) X 30 tall
Crosstrek 32 inches deep X 43 wide X 29 tall (Crosstrek seems to have added some room for the rear passengers)

Seats down
Vibe 68 X 42
Crosstrek 68 X 43

Hauling the odd load of 8ft lumber was what the Vibe was always good at and I hated to give up. Crosstrek passed the test:

  PJungnitsch. Excellent job on the reporting.

The cars are very similar and even closer than I thought they would be. The Crosstrek is a great replacement for the Vibe.

Congrats on making an excellent choice  ;D

I absolutely loved this colour when I had my Outdoor presser, but alas, not available on the Limited.

That flat folding front passenger seat in the Vibe is super handy.

Congrats on the new car! I like the colour.

Congrats, especially love the colour!

I'll second that.  Is the colour French Canadian Pea?   ;D

Congrats! My wife's uncle loves these. He's on his 3rd one, lol. Latest is dark blue. Prior to that, he had an Impreza hatch.

Nice and congrats!

Did you plan the matching jacket? :P

:D That's what my BIL said 'Did the jacket come with the car?'. Turns out Black Diamond has a similar colour scheme

Hah, i have the same jacket.  Love that thing!  Roll it up, stuff it in a pocket, and still comes out looking good.

Yeah, me too! Great jacket for cool mornings in warm weather, would get another but Last Hunt is down to XL and S now, and I'm way to cheap to pay full price

First windshield chip, hopefully that's it for the new vehicle curse. My sister backed her new Matrix into a sign that went right through the back hatch glass

Congrats!

Love that both those vehicles have a colour to them. Sucks on the windshield chip - so soon. Better than a paint scrape I guess.

Ouch, sucks about the windshield. :'(

I see you’re having it repaired, but what’s the scoop on windshield replacement with the EyeSight system? I’ve heard it’s really expensive - maybe not for the windshield itself, but because the system needs to be reprogrammed?

Can you get insurance or an extended warranty for that? Something like a tire road hazard policy, maybe?

That's what I've heard. The salesman first said 'Oh it's cheap' then let it drop it would be likely $1000 with an OEM windshield plus calibration

We've got full glass coverage so at least half that would be covered

The RX is the same way, the dealer got the windshield changed for us as a condition of sale when we bought it. He didn't seem too bothered and it's worked perfectly. The glass shops would have a lot of practice with this type of thing

We've had a chip in the RX this spring and got it fixed right away by the same pop up parking lot windshield guy, has worked well for $30

I'm from gravel country so fixing a windshield is odd for me, but it is what it is. In the city here auto braking does come in handy at times, body work isn't cheap either

Congrats on the purchase.  Front folding seat is brilliant.  What a difference from the Vibe it must be.

Is that a dealer sticker on the rear hatch?  :o

Didn't know that the Crosstrek did the folding front seat thing, very handy. I did know that was a feature on the Vibe, the Vibe if memory serves also has a rear window that opens separately from the hatch, which I always thought was a nice feature. Great comparison photos.

Oh, no it doesn't fold forward, like that genius Vibe/Matrix thing

But the seat does fold back without issue, so if it's slid ahead and the headrest removed it's a pretty decent equivalent for the odd collection of 1X6 or 2X2

Think the Fit worked similarly
