I think I rather look at this one
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/calgary/2010-toyota-highlander-sr-5-package-suv-crossover/1330847312?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

No photo, but the mileage is really low.  Nice find if the conditions match up with the low mileage.

I thought the SR-5 trim is for the 4-runner?

Here are the US trim levels
https://www.cars.com/research/toyota-highlander-2010/trims/

Maybe then mean SE trim

I do like the mileage , I would give it a call

I would not pay more than $1000 for a used hybrid over a straight gas model

`What do you guys think of the previous generation Lexus hybrid?

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/calgary/2007-lexus-rx-400h-suv-mint-condition/1331700998?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

That's what my Mom, and step father have in Spain.  It's been very reliable, but it has low mileage by our standards.  Around 150k.  I believe the newer hybrid, is like 10% more fuel efficient.  All depends on what the price difference is between the two...

I would imagine if properly cared for the RX would last virtually forever in that climate.

Personally i think the sweet spot for toyotas, lexus, and some hondas are at the 4 year old mark.  Before that they are too expensive and may as well buy one new.   :-\

Haha  I guarantee if my wife has to park that thing it will have some scratches.  I can also picture her taking out the garage door.

Edit: They put back the highlander hybrid back on and now 1,500$  cheaper ($20,500).  It's twice now.

Collision claim with $0? That must be why its deals fell through. Something feels weird to me.
It's worth a look for that price, though.

Yep.

And if you're concerned about battery and whatnot, the Toyota dealer can do a battery integrity check on those components.

I emailed them again asking for more detail about the vehicle.  I didn't notice you could click on  the carproof

Edit: the luxus is still for sale too the guy said he had few offer but too low.  He wont budge, asking price only.

So I talked  to the salesman at Toyota.  I ask about the accident, he said usually when he sees stuff like that is people phone their insurance and get a big $$$ quote and then decide to fix it themselves or pay out of their own pocket.  So he guess the accident would be small but he has not clue. (is there anyway to get deeper into this)?  The carproof does show the accident even if you don't claim,  it happened to me once.

He did mentioned they originally sold the car and the carproof does show it was serviced at their dealer all the way up to December 2017

They are opened today so I might go take a look.

Update:
Just test drove the highlander.  I carefully looked around for any paint scratch and also uneven gaps in the body panels as it would show either big accident or bad worksmanship on the collision fix, could not find anything.  The Exterior condition actually looks really good!!  The interior looked amazing!  I could not find any scratch of sign of use.  Either the previous owner didn't had kids or they bubble warp them or something.  The 2nd and 3rd row looked literally untouched.  The front seats also looked very well maintained,  no wear on the seats, not a single scratch on the dash or anywhere.

Love the drive, quiet but it does feel like a big vehicle.   It feels bigger than our van, the trip meeter showed 9.1L/100km over a 3,100km period which is really good.  The EV mode did not work despite having a 2/3 battery but it was -16 outside and reading on the toyota forum they say it's normal at those temperature.

As for the carproof.  it's shows the vehicle originally sold at their location, looks like the owners only brought it there for service exepct once in Edmonton and it was traded in at the same place for a new one.  It also shows the accident repair being done at the same dealer so I assume it being a bumper scratcher.  I can't see any owners not going through insurance with air bags deployed. . tires 4 season were about 70%

The salesman did say battery replacement would be around $2,500 if it ever needed

...I think I'll make an offer.  is there anything i should consider woth the offer?
-I'm thinking vehicle inspection.
-1 free oil change
-maybe an official quote for a battery replacement (if it ever happens i could shoe them the paper?)

I know the Lexus is a better deal and more features but I kind of like the highlander better for the following reason; light interior leather, factory hitch,  3rd row seat if needed.

I dunno if the Lexus is a better deal actually as they are too close in price.  The hitch though is not a positive.  Did you check the safety chain holes for paint condition.  If the paint is chip off at those to locations means the vehicle has towed and that's a power train wear concern @ 190k km.

Yes it had a bit of surface rust  on the hitch but I'm not too concern about that.  I can't imagine somebody buying a hybrid for major hauling.

but the more i look at the car proof the more im concern about the intervals. In 2012 It was brought in at 26k, 27k and 30k in the span of 3 months. 2014 brought in @73k, 74k, 78k(2), 79k, 93k, 95, 104k.  that's 8 times in less than 1 year

and a battery change is actually over 5,000$

Personally, I'd be walking away from the HL.  I've used my 3rd row only a handful of times over the past 4 years.  Even those times could have gotten by if we just took the 2nd car.

That's I wish there was more choices for mid size suv's.  Like the Edge, Murano, Grand Cherokee, and RX.

Can the dealership give you an indication for why it went in so often?

A friend bought a HL Hybrid that had a similar history (though not as many services).  They were all for the same issue that the dealership took a few visits to get right.  So, say two are for oil changes, two are for tire changes then you'd only be looking at 4 visits.  Not so bad.

Yeah. Decided not to go with it. Too many red flags plus the mileage.  If we do 35k a year the highlander will have 360k+ in 5 years. I would a nice vehicle for now but with that amounts of mileage I’m  not only looking at hybrid parts but bearing, brakes...etc. That mean more time wrenching

... and the level of nagging/whining from the other half if something happens would be unbearable!!
